Thread: A toast to the Aerodrome

  1. #1

Default A toast to the Aerodrome

In the near future you will be able to raise an actual Aerodrome glass when you toast your fellow pilots here on the Aerodrome. Here is a sneak peak of the new Aerodrome glass that will be going on sale later this week...

Each glass will come with the Aerodrome site logo on one side and your choice of Dr.I or Camel on the other (I might be adding more planes in the future). There will be an option to add your user name above the site logo. Price is going to be $9.99 for the standard glass with the user name option adding $2.00. These will be made to order, so please allow a week for me to engrave them.

These are great! I will be ordering one for sure, and even more if you do a P-51D variant down the line! That laser of yours will certainly be useful!

That is sure going to be a money spinner Keith, and has just preempted me by a few days in shelling out on getting some G&T glasses engraved at my local Trophy store. Thank goodness you posted now.

Rob, what size and shape G&T glass were you going to get? What were you going to put on them? Shoot me a PM with the details please.

I'll want one for sure, Keith. My birthday is coming in February and if a certain young lady doesn't know what to offer me... I might have a clue or two...

Oh are you kidding me!!! That is so cool. I love getting coffee cups from cool places that I visit through work or vacations. This will start a whole new thing for me, But no I won't be letting the wife and kids use them unless they play more WoG with me! Then I'll get them their own glass.

Tastefully done. Engraved glasses can look awful, but this is spot on. Good idea and good end product.

I'm actually going to be making a trophy for this years Wings of Glory Aerodrome Invitational Tournament winner. If you like, I could do an award for your Con as well. We can work the details out via PM.

The invitational is at Origins!? Who do I need to bribe?

  22. #22

    Default

Just signup for it when you register at Origins. It's open to all members of the site and any players we happen to recruit during the Con. Last year we had 24 slots for that game and had 24 players with a few waiting to see if they could get in. So, if you really feel the need to bribe someone, I'll PM you my details.

But you would have to bribe me to allow you to be bribed... much easier to just cut out the middle man

Very cool. Any idea how long the "coming soon" time-frame is for other kites will be?

Not really. I do have some artwork already for other planes, but it is in a different style and I need to do some testing to see how well they will engrave. I've used this same artwork on other products (like the Rotary Cockpits), so that gives you and idea of what I've got lined up for the next couple of planes.

Keith, these look really nice. I am always a bit leery about such items. Far too many look like something kids buy on spring break. These don't; they have class.

I am looking forward to seeing what other types of glasses you might use.

Looks like a new collection is about to start.

I was also wondering if coffee cups are in our future as well. A great way to advertize my hobby at work.

Oh, sometimes I like what I see when the collage kids are on spring break. lol

Thinking about it. I can etch on ceramic, but it has little to no contrast so the images don't show up very well. There are some colored mugs out there, but I have to find some I like that are not pastel colors.

Here is the artwork I already have that was done by one of our very own members. I've not etched these yet, so I don't know how how they will come out.

    DH.2

    SE5a

    Albatros D.Va

    Fokker D.VII

And here are two possible alternatives to the Dr.I and Camel artwork available now...

By the way, there are some mugs that show a picture when you fill them with some hot liquid. It will be pretty cool to see enemies on the tail of normal printed plane when you fill the mug

Have not quoted it yet, but they are not super cheap to ship. You can add one to your cart at the AA site and it will tell you. With box and padding, they weigh in at just over a pound. But if ordered with other items, it should not be to bad.

Now they look nice, I can get a nice drop of Port in one of those.l
Will have to get a pair of them, most likely the Albatross for my Jasta 5

Notice I made no mention of a Triplane what so ever, yes I know its a Dr1

Wow Keith, I just saw this thread. These glasses look fantastic! I will be ordering several, any reason to drink beer gets a thumbs up here! Had a question, the SE 5a is roughly $20 for the glass? Also must give a vote for the DH 2 and D Va.

Keith, can these be done on whisky glasses? I love the Dr.I and Albatross.

Kirk, the site is processing the SE5 incorrectly... it should be the same price as the others. I'll look into that this afternoon. As for the the DH 2 and D.Va, I've got artwork for those similar to the SE5 already. I'll check them out to ensure they engrave well and add them to the site also.
