    Default New Member Introduction

    Hello,

Just to introduce myself; my name is Andrew Wild and I am from Sheffield in the UK.

I am a boardgamer and wargamer with specific interest in World War 2, Science Fiction and Napoleonic games.

I am new to Wings of War. I have aquired recently 8 aircraft and have the Dawn of war rules only. I have not aquired the Wings of Glory rules although
I believe they are nearly the same.

I have played Star Wars Xwing so I have some familiarity with the maneuver system.

I have the following aircraft so far:

    Series 1:
1/ Supermarine Spitfire Mk II - Vybral
    2/ Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat - Galer
    3/ A6M2 Zero - Kaneko
    4/ A6M2 Zero - Shindo

    Series 5:
    1/ Focke-Wulf FW190 - Gotz
    2/ Focke-Wulf FW190 - Wubke
3/ Spitfire Mk IX - Johnson
    4/ P-51D Mustang - Landers

I am hoping to take to my gaming group at some point. If anyone has any advice or comments please feel free to offer them.

Its interesting how much bigger the series 5 maneuver cards are; I assume this is because the series 5 aircraft are faster.

    Best Wishes

Welcome from across the pond, Andrew.

The only advice I can offer is that you should collect some planes from the light side, such as Fokker Dr.1s, SPAD XIIIs, etc.

On behalf of the rest of the Squadrons in the U.K. welcome to the Drome Andrew.
It is great to see you have touched down.
Do pop into the Officer's club and introduce yourself to the chaps outside the U.K. Wing. they are a mine of information on all aspects of the game.
Also don't forget to take up the Wingman offer I sent you.
fly safe and watch your six.

    Hello,

Yes I am planning on going to York.

I would love to meet you.

I will probably be with a couple of members of my gaming group. I have a couple of games to sell on the stall and I like buying something.

When the time gets closer to the event we could arrange to meet up at some point.

    Best Wishes

Welcome Andy from a displaced Tyke living in Bristol.
We are in the process of getting tables for Triples in May, which, if last year is to go by, will give you the opportunity to meet a number of UK Drome members. See you down the mess

Indeed! The "E" flight sheds have a kettle in the corner and a particularly villainous (and alcoholic) form of tea. Pull up a chock (petrol tins make rubbish seats, especially for smokers) and a tin mug and tell us some tall stories.

    About 12,000 feet tall.

Sorry about the snow. We don't have snow but we do have flooding in many parts of the UK.
