I love this little fragile elegant manoeuvrable plane. Excellent painting Zoe. Must have some...
Great work Zoe - thanks for binging it to the showcase
The same AIM Ki 43 II Hayabusa, painted in rather half-historical schemes, showing different stages of paint scraping - the kind of fighter plane I like the most; however badly outgunned.
The models were surprisingly easy to complete; I airbrushed all of them. There are generally 3 layers of paint: 1) Chaos Black primer, 2) Silver (Pactra Acrylic) 3) overall Green (Pactra Acrylic).
After applying decals the minis were sprayed with acrylic gloss varnish, which - unfortunately started to react badly with the decals, that almost made my hair stand on end...
I am aware of their glossy look, but other varnishes interfered with the decals fatally and the polished appearance is not unhistorical
in a way.
Finally they came out not that bad and I am happy to field that small squadron on my gaming table. As army fighters they will fill the gap in the range of Japanese fighters we have in WGS. Great we already have the stats cards for them.

Superbly painted aircraft from you both, well done. Love the peeled back paint jobs.
See you on the Dark Side......
Excellent work.
Congrats, my friend!
Nice ones, Andrzej.
I have to check my Dawn of War card based games for those plane cards.
The Oskars use the C-Deck - perfect.

A nice swarm of Falcons. I like the weathering of the paint effect.

Very nice Andrzej! Truly wonderful work! I'm looking forward on seeing these upclose in Prague!
How did you get the peeled of look? Using latex?

I just finished painting the Ki-43 I display model for Armaments in Miniature. While I was at it, I finished two Ki-43 IIs that were sitting in the hangar. Models are from Armaments in Miniature, LLC. Decals are I-94 Enterprises with the exception of the lightning-flash on the Ki-43 I which I made from a Microscale decal sheet. Kevin

Perfect paintjobs, Kevin.
I still have to learn a lot from such great painters...
Could you please reveal the painting techniques you used?
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Once again, real beauties Kevin. Sorry I can't REP at the moment.
Thanks for the compliments. I washed the models in a mild detergent, cleaned up a few seam lines, and then primed them with gray primer. I then painted the models silver/aluminum, the Ki-43 I with a spray and the Ki-43 IIs with a brush. I then painted the canopies a light blue and applied a dark blue wash. Next I painted the green areas with Vallejo Model Color - Military Green. On the Ki-43 I, I applied a couple of coats of thin paint and left a lot of silver around areas that would wear and around the panel lines. On the Ki-43 IIs, I stippled the green paint onto the silver. I painted a couple of layers of green. I added the yellow to the wing, painted the spinners, and then finished with the anti-glare panels. Once dry I added a coat of acrylic gloss, applied decals, applied another coat of gloss, gave then models a dark wash, and then finished them with a flat clear. v/r Kevin

These are my AIM 1/200 Ki-43's.
Camille took the photos.
Superb flight Joaquim! Love the tail insignia.
Great painting of the models, Zoe, Kevin, Andrzej, John and Joaquim!
BEAUTIFUL BIRDS there, Quim!
They suit your style so well.
You cared very much for the paint job and details (individual markings ), while I just brutally sprayed and stripped those of mine.

Great jobs from all of you. It almost makes me want to start attacking my Ares examples but I'm managing to resist the urge. Salute to you all!
Where did you get the tail decal Joaquin? By the way I forgot to add they are all great.
See you on the Dark Side......
Well done all !!!
Thanks for posting the pictures and the painting information a great inspiration for us all.
Must get back to painting again.

A Thai Ki-43 flown by Sak Intarapura of Foong Bin 16 managed to fatally damage B-29 42-24452 "Devil May Care" of the 45th Sqdn, 40th BG, before itself succumbing to damage on 27 November 1944.

I found an Oscar with white lightning bolts, but not weathered, nor with the white outlines on the upper wing markings.

Looking at the post on this page you all deserve OSCARS for your hard work and attention to detail.
After a few talks with the wife(she is Thai) she says FOONG BIN is like a flock or group that flys together so I guess that is Group or Flight 16. Also great paint job.
Now getting my lesson on how planes fly but it is in Thai.
If Ares ever produce models of the Oscar, we must have a Thai one included as one of the choices.
