Thread: Spits!

  1. #1

    Default Spits!

Finishing the last of the Shapeways order for 2013

Whew! Cutting out the tiny roundels makes my vision go blurry! Now its back to the Real War models! WWI rocks! But WWII rolls!

Nice job with the camo, David. Did you airbrush or hand paint?

    Thumbs up

    Nice work David!
Have you any more buried in wooden crates in your backyard?

Good Lord, Clipper! Very nice gaggle of Spits you've got there... but where's the rest of the Wing?

    Great stuff!
Only a pedantic note about the title of the thread: WGF stands for Wings of Glory, First world war. WGS for Wings of Glory, Second world war. These are more WGS Spitfires. A WGF Spitfire would look more like that:

Dave, like your canopies. What colours did you use?

That's because the WWII aircraft don't have their wheels down Dave. They just roll from side to side in the trays, whilst the WWI kites stand like rocks.

I agree with you Dave. I think that not only the canopies but the entire paint job is something to drool over.
However, with Christmas coming on, i feel that these canopies may be more appropriate for the time of year.

Thanks! I use a soft lead silver color pencil these days for the canopies, just color them over a layer of flat paint so the pigment can grab onto the surface, then give the whole model a light coat of dull cote.

    Very nice, Dave.

I have a growing appreciation for the uniform look, having several planes similarly painted with minor distinctives. On a game table, I think they will look fantastic.

You say canapes, and I say canopies, you say trash and I say rubbish, lets call the whole thing off before someone goes and writes a song about it Chris.
