A trial run out for Kanoehe Bay for RECON:
The quiet before the storm. There will be 33 PBY's (not models). 30 on land and 3 in the water the other 3 of 36 were out on patrol, lucky fellows.
A tanker and freighter await to unload.
A freighter unloads a third waits. 3 PBY's in the water and a close up of the airfield.
2 kates and a zero zoom in to straffe targets. (John)
2 separate kates close in . (Tom)
2 Vals and a zero head for the airfield. (Paul - Guzzi)
What of the defenders........well!
Kates drop torpedo's at S Brisbane Star whilst a B25 (Neil - skafloc) tries to sneak in to land behind them. (Lack of B17's had to improvise)
A lone P40 (George) heads for the kates, too late to stop the torpedo's.
The outcome......
Brisbane Star torpedoed, above pic. whilst Ohio is torpedoed below.
20mm canon does for the docked freighter and the waiting freighter suffered a similar fate.
PBY's hit on land and in the water. A single Kate shot down by the P40.
The B25 takes a hammering on the way in low on fuel and goes down just short of the runway next move.
The P40 blows up above a zero causing damage.....the end of the defenders the Japanese head back to the carriers.
A few more shots...
Everybody wanted a piece of the bomber....
You put your left Kate in, your left Kate out in out then shake em all about.
Out numbered the P40 took everyone on and dished out some fantastic damage. Could have been more but for an untimely explosion above a zero!
Scored on the doors:
Paul - Guzzi: 2 freighters, 4 PBY's, 1 B25 (lovely shot from a Val and stole it off John's Zero)
Tom: 1 tanker 1 P40
John: 1 Freighter
George: 1 Kate
Great game. Lasted all of 90 minutes. I was surprised how long the B25 lasted before going down. For RECON it will have limited fuel so cannot hang around but has to get to the airfield and land. A second or third P40 would be nice so I may have to look around for them. Terrain to finish, 27 PBY's to cut out and mount on card and we are ready to go.
