Armor elves have been at work.

    Big gun turrets under way

    Lower stern cannons

    Large turret assemblies on Akagi

    Now for the AA guns!

Dave, I feel so privileged to see you work, it's awesome. You are so talented, and to see it come to fruition, just amazing. Long May it continue.

    Here we go again Dave.
What material are you using for those gun platforms?

So far foam, foamboard, PVC pipe, bamboo gun barrels, and Bombay Sapphire . . .

Again unreal on what is made. I think would have to play the game in a gym due to the distance and size.

Akagi update! We have gun pads on the perimeter, now to make the guns! 46 of them . . .

The control tower adds a lot to the ship!

Now if the penguins and the elves would just sober up . . . we might get these things ready to launch by Christmas!

    Akagi. Red castle.
    Killer of dreadnoughts.
Mother of floating, diving, fast dragons.
Your demise was the pride of paranoia.
    Onwer of the Pacific.
    But just for a while.
    You're sleeping below the waves.
But you cruise an ocean of foam and dreams in us.
Sons of past glories, lubricant and gunpowder.
    Akagi. Avatar of honour.
    Betrayed by your masters.
I embrace you like a weeping dragon.
I'll take your planes to the skies.
    Akagi.

Gee 'quim that even sounds like it was written by a Japanese!
    Very Lyrical, mate.

    Thanks, Barry.
Too much Japanese literature, I guess.

You never fail to surprise, and entertain us with your poetic eulogies Quim.
    Long may they continue.

    Thanks, dear Rob.
But it's Dave's art that really gives me the inspiration for these half-literate rants.

    High literature quote.

    Red castle on the waves
    Crumbles before the onslaught
    Of the Western horde.

    A flying dragon
is struck down by Western flies.
    Our tears fill the seas.

    Haiku? Chris.

Dang, we're turning into a cultured bunch here.
A salute to both of you.

    An Haiku indeed, Rob.

    Death cut the waves
Dreams of medieval glory forever lost.
A Red Castle float - for a glimpse - in flames.

    Death haiku, to be exact....

I'd have to look up the translations for _Kaga_ and _Soryu_ to cover all the Midway CVs; _Shokaku_ and _Zuikaku_'s demises were even less poetic....

Kates are here! Did up 4 AIM Kates and they are very nice models to work with!

On the Hiryu and ready to take off!

    Fun colors!

    Meanwhile on the Akagi

Awaiting guns and life boats, will they come before Christmas? The elves seem to be slipping off to some cold place to the north . . .

The "silver with red & green dots" looks a little bit strange to me.

Where did you find those paint shemes?

    Found it on the web:

I cannot vouch for its authenticity, but it looks kool! : )

Looks like what they'd paint on land-based Kates; maybe the groups that got left on Rabaul when their carriers went in for repair.

Is there a different structure convention for this that's different from regular haiku? or just content?

    Beautiful Kates, Dave.
The red dotted Kate may not be Carrier based, but sure its beautiful. You should add the Kates to the Official Kate Painting Thread.

Content only -- granted, most of the actual death-haiku were written by guys committing seppuku (guys who died on the field usually didn't get a chance to monologue); naturally, they will be incredibly depressing.

David those ships are priceless. Your doing a fantastic job. I can't afford one but maybe the BGIF could rent one or two for Origins? Spectacular! Keep up the good work.
