If you flying in to Doncaster am sure I can be there to meet and greet
If you flying in to Doncaster am sure I can be there to meet and greet
East Midlands is about 1 hour away (if you put your foot down a bit) so its a good choice if you can't get into Doncaster
Leeds/Bradford would also work - about an hour away in the opposite direction
All sorted chaps. Eileen and I will pick Andrzej up at either airport, and bring him to the venue, as she has to deliver me anyway, and EM airport is only half an hour from where we live.

Is it possible I can join in the frivolity please?

Of course old chap, the more the merrier, all are welcome
.....and it was 21 and rising, I said 21 and rising. (to the tune of 'How High's the Water Pappa - J. Cash)
See you on the Dark Side......
Yes indeed, we are anxious to meet any members from all over the world if they can make it to this historical event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War.

Thanks, you are a gentleman and a scholar!
Can I be No 22 then, please?
Not Catch 22, of course!
Tim
It's took me a while to get back to this. a 75mm wide (3") machine woven badge (light blue background, black wings and red (?) letters/numbers is my first thought) would cost approximately Ł4. As the number 14 is appropriate for 1914 anniversary of start of WW1 and the 2014 first meeting of the aerodrome it makes the date immaterial for this badge. Are those who are attending still interested if you are could you PM me with a yes or no. Plus which variant right or left. Thanks.
Neil
See you on the Dark Side......
Looks good, and very tempting. Might I suggest the text in black as well? What you have there looks pretty good as it is, and I'm not sure red text would work. Would the patch have a woven edging fringe? Thinking it would look good on our aerodrome shirts
Added you Tim ,though according to the list Ive only got 21 confirmed and 4 possibles ? if any is not on the list could you please let me know that Ive missed you ,I know its not end of the world but it would be nice to let the owners know how many to expect .
Cheers
Yep I'm trying to get the background colour to match the polo/T shirt colour. Perhaps I should have started off the round by asking do we want something to commemorate our first get together which coincides with the 100th anniversary of WW1, sorry to back track here. also I can bring samples of cloth, and metal and enamel badges, with prices to triples next year which might be better to see what's on offer.
Neil
See you on the Dark Side......
I will start the ball rolling then Neil.
The idea is great, and you can put me down for one of the patches and an enamel badge to, if that takes off.(No pun intended) No really honest!
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Put me down for a patch and a badge, also I have one more definite attendee (Bullet Magnet - Simon as he is another Doncaster resident and he can help me with ASDA shop for supplies etc, and I think it's his round !!)
lol, just realised this is post number 300 for me.... only 19,818 behind the Wing Commander now
Bullet Magnet added Chris
Mark me up for a badge and patch to pleade Neil.
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
I'll try and get a scan going to show the samples I have and the price ranges.
Enamel type badges have a min order the machine cloth min order is 25.
I'll open a new thread and post in the New Year. We have bags of time. Plus Chris, Simon, Trev and Paul and I had a chat at RECON about trying to get a proper medal rcreated with just Wings Over Britain and the aerodrome design on. Then to see if we can get a bar made for each year/venue. So the first bar would be Doncaster 2014. A bit like a general service medal.
Plus I need to get started looking for a new job in the next few weeks and coming months. Decision made, redundancy package is looking good.
See you on the Dark Side......
I also like the medal idea Neil, and would be up for one of those too. Would the price be attractive to the other pilots?
Rob.

I'll go for the patch and the badge, and the medal!
perhaps something based on the 1914 star? (not the 1914-15 star) then bars for years after?
Put me down for a patch. Alas badges and medals aren't my thing.
Good news about the redundancy - best of luck for the future
Put some feelers out. Some chap called Manfred left me a memo, works for some company called F. Okka (couldn't quite make out the typing it was pretty bad). They want a health and safety rep for some aerial work. Told him I wasn't very good at heights. Never mind something will come up.

Ok. It's official. If flying helmut and Fo Kyte could kindly bring their Zeppelins to Doncaster ( and if anyone else has a nice Zepp and can bring it cold they let me know please?) We will have a 3 Zeppelin flight for all you erstwhile Zepp hunters to shoot down.
