and a DVII in Sunderland colours forgot that one.
and a DVII in Sunderland colours forgot that one.
I'm really looking forward to this event, meeting new enthusiasts and having some cracking games, but first I'll square it with my swmbo because I'll see if I can get the whole weekend off, well you know how it is chaps they always find jobs for us to do ( sigh )
Well at least you have 12 months to butter her up
Chaps, do we have any schedule of the meeting?
I'd like to arrange my flights to Doncaster and back.
An attempt to get the union flag at the back of the Wings over britain logo.
my first attempt looked better, but I realised I'd used the Wings of version.
If you imagine a nicely centered oval with the wings logo neatly placed in the middle, and the flagshowing about 2mm above and below the centre points
Is this the one you mean Neil?
Doncaster Central East - Premier Inn
Rob.
I got the Campanile close by
Right then.
That is the one that I will book for Andrzej and myself.
Rob.
Ill do that one also
Done and booked
Chris, are you planning on going up Friday night or Saturday? We should probably coordinate travelling
Just checked my options for travel again and found that there is a feasible train connection to Doncaster. Will take me 5h to get there but the plane wouldn't be much faster for me as I can't fly directly to Doncaster. By the way have to support my overseas colleagues of the railroads . Added bonus is that I probably will be traveling to Doncaster very cheap as I can get reduction and free passes...
Just booked the Friday and Saturday night for myself and Andrzej.
Rob.
Thomas where are you flying into, have you tried flying into Manchester, Leeds- Bradford or even Bristol ?
I will be flying to East midlands airport on the Friday and hiring a car so perhaps we can coordinate something nearer the time.
Some important posts have gone missing from here so if you were making arrangements about the event please check to ensure that your post is still here chaps.
Rob.
I've just received a package from MBC badges company including 2 samples. Please have a look at the web site:
www.badges.org.uk
You can peruse their products. The 2 samples I received were the zinc alloy 50mm and soft enamel (3 colours) with ribbon, roughly 45mm.
Minimum order would be 25 or more depending on size.
It's an alternative to a badge to look forward to for Doncaster.
The wording would be Wings Over Britain.................Donacaster 2014 ( around the outside) and the aerodrome wings logo in the centre.
I have updated the attending/possible list I think its up to date anyway let me know if your missing just so I can keep the venue up to date ,cheers
OK chaps to make this easier for the organiser(s), everyone who is attending could you vote in the poll with what your preference is. Cheers in advance, Neil.

Neil, I edited your post to include a link to the poll (which I moved to the UK section) to make it easier for everyone to find. Hope you don't mind.
Cheers Keith, didn't know I could but thanks, makes it easier.
Actually, it looks like that poll needs multiple choices. As it is now, people can only choose an event type on one of the days. If you want to change it, just start another thread/poll with those options and I'll re-link and remove the old one for you.
Yep done the multiple choice, ready to re-link.
Neil
Re-linked and moved to the UK section
Thanks for the poll Neil, a big help for me ( no sarcasm here).
What I was looking to do was leave WW2 to the experts but for WW1
Day 1 we can normally get in 4 to 5 games in the day, what with talking eating etc
Beforehand all wanting to play WW1 split into two equal teams ( this means pilots may need two of each type of aircraft)
Pilots will be awarded points for each game, similar to my campaign system
Points for taking part, surviving, causing visible damage, shooting down opponents with minus points for being shot down.
At the end of each game points totaled winner gets next plane in sequence. Next game played, if same winner they get next plane in sequence, but loser gets first plane in sequence.
So Game 1 bullets or Bristol scouts v Eindekkers Eindekkers win
Game 2 Bullets or Bristol Scouts v Halberstadts. Halberstadts win
Game 3 Dh2 or Neiuports11. v Roland D2 ( yes I like Roland's) or Albatross D2. DH2 win
Game 4 Pups or Neuiport 17 v Roland or Albatross
Last game will be a bomber or balloon mission
Pilot points totaled and prizes for highest total and any aces
Day two same format with prizes for highest total points , highest total kills , best sportsman, best talker
sequence of planes being
Entente
Bullet or Bristol Scout
DH2 or Neuiport 11
Sopwith Pup or Neiuport 17
Sopwith Triplane
Spad VII or Hanriot
Sopwith Camel
Bristol Fighter
SE 5
Spad X13
Sopwith Snipe or Dolphin
Central powers
Eindekker or Phalz Eindekker
Halberstadt D 2
Roland D2 or Fokker D 2
Albatross D2
Albatross D3
Dr1 or Phalz DR1
Albatross DV
Phalz D3
Fokker D7
Fokker D8
At the moment just a mulled idea but how does it sound and
Ill flesh it out. Players bring their own planes, of each type if they have, I certainly do not mind loaning planes if players not got enough.
How do you like the sound WW1 players
Sounds ideal
I think I have bespoke models of most, if not all of these.
Might also be worth thinking about how/whether to get 2 seaters into this as well. When we did the Time of Aces campaign day there were some missions where it was useful/essential for at least someone to have a 2 seater.
Good to have the same format over 2 days. I'd like to give each side a try.
Great Idea Boney ,sounds like great fun.
Looks like a plan Chris.
Yes Chris, I agree with Gunners here. It looks as if you have the bones of a very enjoyable weekend in the making.
Thanks for your effort thus far along with all the chaps who have made comments and suggestions.
I know that Neil has been working hard behind the scenes on his arrangements as well.
Rob.
Sounds good Chris, but I must agree with David that we should find some room for the two-seaters.
Mark.
Looks good Chris.
How about one big furball at the end just to finish the weekend off.
Don
Yes Dave.
These gizmos.
Rob.
I can't see them. Only the one you posted there.
That is really strange.
I'll have to ask the Oberst if he can see them.
Rob.
Yes Herr Oberst. In your exalted position I wold expect it. It does, however relieve my mind or what is left of it. Have you any idea how it has happened, and why we are the only people who can see it. You don't need to answer all these questions at once!
I will now go paranoid and search all the U.K. threads seeking out any other banners that have slipped in.but first a soothing G&T.
