Thread: NEW THREAD for National Aerodrome get together

  1. #701

Thomas turned up with a home-made storage box for his WW2 planes which everyone who saw it thought was a bit good. Perhaps we can persuade him to do a 'how-to' so everyone can marvel at it?

We finally made it back home! Deborah and I want to thank everyone at Doncaster for a terrific weekend. To all those involved in putting this together a sincere thanks, it was (and hopefully will be again in the future) a great event. Wish we lived closer to you all.

Thanks Guntruck, for the 'Duelling Above the Trenches' mag. Now I'll have to paint up a Welsh Dragon on every type of Sopwith for Deborah to fly. (maybe she'll let me get in a kill once in a while!)

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. It was wonderful to meet so many of you in person that I have connected with over the internet and those met for the first time. As Andrej put it so rightly, the games are fun, but it is the friendship with all you great people that make up this community beyond special.

Thanks for the engraved glasses, we will raise them in honour toasting all those from Doncaster 2014 for years to come.

And thanks for the honour of receiving the flying Snoopy award. He will be present in any of my games when the Red Baron appears!

    Good morning Peter and Deborah.
It was a pleasure to meet you both.
I trust that the rest of your trip was enjoyable.
Doing your bit for hands across the ocean.
It is always good to receive support from our American cousins in our struggle for survival against the Central Powers or the Axis.you may notice that in your absence we have acquired two new Lady pilots in the form of Mrs. Kyte, and the Deadly Marian.
Glad you like the glasses. It was my way of saying thanks to all those from overseas who made the effort to join us in our little escapade.
I trust that we may meet again in the flesh at sometime in the future.
Till that time comes, fly safe and watch your six.
    Rob and Eileen.

Outstanding returning to base skills - outnumbered 3-1, 3 hit points left and crossed best part of three gaming mats to escape with about 5mm to spare. Was amazingly tense and was a surprisingly exciting end to the game.

Deserting the field of combat twice, uhm......consider it two courtmartials and you're still barred!

Thanks Chris! I do cherish that moment of triumph If memory serves well, I dealt a deadly salvo to a mighty Brisfit giving it two cards from a close distance: 5+pilot hit and 3+pilot hit. I did hope the crewmen somehow managed to get out of the wreck...

And eventually in the fullness of time Hedeby found that his wish had come true! Through all the Wind and fire (especially the fire) he became a Wing Commander and discovered for himself just how much crappy flack was being sent his way.

However, he now gets to relive the action of ten years ago as he flits through these files from the archives of the Sniper's Times and reflects on just how young we all looked back then.

F.O. Kyte. (Air Vice Marshall) Retired thank the Lord.
