Thread: WoG Therapy. It works!

  1. #1

    Default WoG Therapy. It works!

My father, a true WoG player, has spent the last two weeks in hospital, undergoing some surgical operation on his kidney, and yesterday was finally released!
It was a tough time for him - I have never seen him so depressed and down.
Fortunately, when we took him to our place where he will spend a week or so, I decided to get him off the ground and proposed a play, just to make him think about anything else except the hospital stay. A kind of WoG Therapy. And it worked fine. I was amazed looking at him focusing on card selection, maneuvering and shooting. Finally I saw a smile on his face I have not seen for weeks!

Not without a reason. He (Fuccini) shot my (Linke-Crawford) Aviatik down in few passes: 5+3+3+XP!

Then we changed to Siemens (him) and Tripe (me).

...and after a bloody fight we ended up in a collision!

Then we turned to a "B" planes: My father took the stick of the Tripe, I sat in the Aviatik.

As you can see this time I was really lucky to set the Tripe on fire...

That led the Tripe to the ground in flames. So after all we gained a hard won tie in kills

Oh, we had a great time together! Now with my wife, daughter and father playing WoG we can call ourselves a WoG Family

My special thanks this time go to Attilio; that was the reason we chose the Italian front and scenery for our first dogfight .

    Andy.

Great therapy, Andrzej! Nothing boosts ones spirits like shooting down your upstart son
Seriously, I'm glad your Father's on the mend, and that you added another pilot to your squadron.

Greetings to your father Andy. Glad to see him finally out of the hospital and so interested in WoG. It 's very nice to have a whole family that plays!

Thank you for the "special thanks" and the Italian scenario. Knowing the surgery of your father I tried to be close to a friend and his family as much as I could.

I hope to meet you soon in Italy!

Default Christmas Games with my Father

I could not loose an opportunity to take my Father to the skies again We were spending Christmas together, so I took him upstairs and suggest we test the new, fast planes and some older biplanes. He agreed at once, so we took off.

First game: He took the stick of the Mustang, I played the Dora.
1:0 for the Mustangs - to my despair.

Glad you had a good time with your dad Andy.
I used to play Snooker against mine once a week, and had some really quality time with him towards the end of his life.

The Show must go on, so I am going to tell you that my father is in a very good shape. He strapped himself in a seat of some Soviet fighters during our last (1st Nov) session and we took off for some WGF fun. I am affraid his fun even was greater than mine...

    We played without altitude.
1st mission: I started with my Bristol dispatched to make recon flight over the Soviet HQ right behind the river. Unfortunately Soviets were alerted and sent a Snipe to itercept the intruder...

We made a head on pass and his guns and my observer's gun got jammed...

But he made a nice turn to get me right over the target...

Fortunately the target was photographed for later bombing and ny crew escaped in his speedy kite to safety. The results:

    2nd Mission: The duel.
I took the Nieuport that Blackronin had repainted and kindly sent me. My father in the Soviet Snipe changed it into a flaming coffin on the spot.

And the flames took their toll soon after...

    3rd Mission: Another duel.
My Oeffag D.III clashed with my father's Spad XIII. At the first glance I had bad feeling about the outcome...

During the first pass I got wounded...

I tried to out turn the Spad but failed... My father used Spad's abilities mercilessly.

The final result was easy to predict...

No doubt about old man's pilot abilities.

Ater all we had a drink together

As he had said before, that was the game he could played!

Nice to see you enjoying a game or two together Andy.
Time you got your Father joined up.
I could use a few tips from him. He never got on fire once.

Good to see the therapy worked so well and there is another WOG pilot amongst us. Andy, you were a bit rough on him right out of the hospital, crashing your plane into his, knowing his condition. Ahhh, what one does in order to win!
