Another excellent balloon! The extras on the basket are a nice touch.
Great balloon and basket Chris. Always having to raise the game huh?
Worth a rep point in anyone's money, Chris
Edit: Rep gun jammed!

Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Certainly a work of model-building art!
LZ-77, LZ-107 Duren, Germany, Hauptmann Erich Sommerfeldt, ObLtn Reinstrom
Takom 1:350 Q-class model kit, profile and decals from the kit.
On 16 February 1917, LZ-107 attacked Boulogne, the last successful raid by an army airship.
I think it’s been over 50 years since I built a model kit and even then I just slapped them together. This kit requires some expertise but that’s mostly due to the photo etch which I replaced with polystyrene rod and angle ‘L’ in the interest of durability and ease of construction. This means the outrigging is out of scale, but I like the result. I substituted spinny props for the engines. It’s durable but the front gondola snapped off when it fell from the painting stand, so it’s already battle-tested.
Fuselage: assembled, filled seams with sprue-goo and sanded. Primed in Krylon Aluminum then Rust-oleum khaki and sanded and sanded and sanded.
Green: 2:1 mix of Vallejo model color Cam. Olive Green and German Cam. Dark Green.
Red: 1:1 mix of Vallejo model color Hull Red and vmc Saddle Brown, but vmc Black Red would also work.
Cream: unknown mix of Vallejo model colors Pale Sand, Dark Sand and Deck Tan to desaturate.
Wash/Glaze: highly diluted 2:1 mix of Army Painter Soft Tone and Light Tone in several layers.
Edge highlights: Vallejo model color Deck Tan.
Struts: AK Interactive 3rd Gen Warm Grey.
Gondolas: 2:1 mix of AK Interactive 3rd Gen Warm Grey and Vallejo Model Air Steel, Vallejo Xpress Color Copper Brown exhausts, windows shaded with Nuln Oil.
Engines/Guns: Secret Weapon Miniatures Dark Iron.
2” x 20” x ź” homemade plexiglass base: image adapted from Files, attached full sheet labels sealed with many layers of Mod-Podge. I guess the wrinkle is a ridge they’re flying over
I’m rewriting some rules I hope will simplify and clarify play just a bit. Using the Zeppelin Compass Template for movement.
It will be stored in a linen/plastic under-the-bed 22.3"x12"x5.7" shoe storage container with foam supports.

Chris you have done an amazing job on that Zeppelin
Wow, I seem to have missed huge chunks of this thread. Such amazing work and really inspirational. I'll see if I can trace back and dish out some very deserved reps for some wonderful work guys. thanks for sharing
Truly magnificent!
Thanks very much, guys
It’s always brilliant when you go up against zeppelin
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Beautiful work Chris
That's a work of art Chris.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Fantastic job Chris. Now I see why you mentioned a Zeppelin game after hours at Origins.

Really nice job!
Thanks, all Happy to have this one in its giant hangar
I'm pleased and honored to say this pair of drachen will be the grand prize in the Harry P. Materne III (Matt) Memorial tournament this year at Origins. I never knew Matt, but wish I could have.
Many thanks to teaticket for the idea and to OldGuy59 for the balloon cards!
The colors were meant to be flexible, using both as Entente or Central Powers, or as one of each.
AIM drachen, custom Litko stands, and a set screw and washer in the steering bag mouth for elevation. They're in a customized Burning Drachens box. Good luck to the players!
So very generous of your time & talents. Well done Chris
Super! It's not WWI aero if there are never balloons!
Excellent work!
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
awesome work on the zep and gasbags chris!!!
Very impressive and also very generous.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Thanks! The balloons were getting nervous but were relieved to hear of Origins' no smoking policy.
I'm not sure that will save them.
A Pig Models Parseval Sigsfeld drachen 1:144 kit
comparison to Armaments in Miniature drachen, both claim to be 1:144 scale which could be true - there were differing size/capacity
decals: I-94enterprises
parachutes: from round toothpicks (Vallejo mc Deck Tan)
Observer: from bag of 1:100 building layout figures
I installed the air intakes as normal then superglued a washer into the slot for the kit stand and on top of the intake in order to use it with magnetic telescoping stand. The stabilizers are plastic, the skirt/ropes are photo-etch and a bit fiddly but once in place seem sturdy enough.
Primed in rattle-can black then progressively dry-brushed with a crazy mix of Vallejo game air Hexed Lichen, game color Night Blue, and game color Cold Grey. Added more Cold Grey then AK Interactive WWI German Light Blue. Skirt/ropes sprayed with Vallejo Beasty Brown, washed with Army Painter Strong Tone, Light Tone and Vallejo game ink Skin Wash.

Really nice Chris. You are the Sausage King!
Another fantastic job on these Drachens. I really like the parachutes on the side of the basket on the Pig model, it’s a nice touch.
nice work chris! you seem to be a regular balloon producing beast lol!!!
More very impressive work Chris. Thanks for sharing
Great work, once again! Rep gun jammed, though.
Really nice job there Chris!
Nicely executed model, Chris. It will look great on your game mat!
I do like the 'curve' of the Pig Models version compared to the AIM.
Nice work as usual Chris.
You are definitely "die Wurstfabrik"
Great work Chris, wish I could grab a couple to shoot down, but perhaps may have to make do with our Thursday night bashes if they make an appearance.
Thanks very much, guys.
I mean, is anyone surprised that the sausage from the Pig Company is authentic?
My two came in Monday. Thank you so much for posting this Chris, inspiration to do them now. Just looking at the kit in open box that photo etch gonna scare the h*** out of me. Finally ordered these, cause, the new Ares ones and the Loch Ness monster have both been seen as much lately. Another $130 of my money Ares didn't need. We thankyou, Lord, for Shapeways. And now Pig Models balloons.
Very nice, Burton
No! I will not buy the Pig Models balloons! I feel like Dr. Strangelove having to hold my hand down to stop it from hitting the 'confirm order' button.
