Special Mitchell bombers for the Bismark Sea raid.

Whilst reading up for some fluff for our upcoming Bismark Sea battle on Friday night games club I found this facinating piece about special weapon upgrades for the Mitchell bombers used on the raid.
The American Bombers, Aussie Beaufighters & Lightning fighters were successful in sinking all 16 ships in the convoy taking Jap reinforcements to New Guinea. The convoy had 4 destroyers as escorts all of which were also sunk. Zero fighters provided air cover but were badly mauled by the Lightnings. A Google search for Battle of the Bismark Sea gives a good overview however the accompaning text is from the superb book "Whispering Death" by Mark Johnstone.

Great minds think alike! My first game in three weeks will be BS. The dance that day was started by Beaufort`s making torpedo attacks. Not effective but when the Beaufighters attacked the Japanese turned into them. Great defense against torpedoes bad against a Beaufighter! The B-17 made some good attacks, throw in the B-25 and it was a ballet!
I see this is another author giving Kenney credit for the B-25 gunship. Pappy Gunn had the idea down on paper before Kenney took command. Gunn also put 4 50`s in the nose of the A-20 and 50`s instead of 30`s in the chin blisters.
