Thread: OTT Training Ground

    Default OTT Training Ground

I've started this thread so that Sid (drsid ) and myself can organize, plan and learn the OTT system. We intend to follow the OTT Campaigns starting with number 1, then post AARs. Hopefully this will teach us both how you play the OTT so when you finish it and start a new one there will be two guys with their goggles on and hands in the air

At the moment I am flying for the Central Powers and Sid is flying for the Entente.

Just for reference: OTT Campaign Missions

Link to a Spreadsheet for us Sid, hope I got it right OTT Training Ground

    Central Powers

    Royal Württemburg Jagdstaffel 28
    Jabbeke Aerodrome, Belgium

Royal Württemburg Jagdstaffel 28 was founded on 14 December 1916 at FEA 10 at Böblingen. Oberleutnant Lang from Jasta 11 was assigned to command it. After Leutnant Lang's reassignment, the squadron would have three commanders killed in combat within four months. Leutnant Emil Thuy then took over, and helmed the squadron throughout war's end.

A World War I "hunting group" (i.e., fighter squadron) of the Luftstreitkräfte, which was the forerunner to the Luftwaffe. As one of the original German fighter squadrons, the unit would score 100 verified aerial victories. The jasta would pay a blood price for its success: nine pilots killed in action, three wounded in action, one injured in a collision, and one prisoner of war.

    Commanding Officer: Major Emil Thuy

Excerpt from "Over the Trenches," doctoral dissertation of Ian Calloway, Ph.D. Candidate, Harvard University, 2012:

"The journal of Arjun Singh, a flying officer of the Royal Flying Corps during World War I, was recently unearthed from the Canadian Library and Archives. It had been placed with the records of Lt. Oliver Temple, a pilot of Canadian origin who served with Singh in the 127th Squadron. The journal is the primary source of this dissertation.

Singh was born in India in 1895. He eventually found his way to Cambridge in pursuit of a legal education. At the outbreak of the war, he followed a number of his friends into service. After some initial difficulty that was surmounted only by letters of recommendation, he was accepted as a cadet and eventually assigned to the 127th Squadron in July of 1917.

This dissertation will endeavor to chronicle his service from patrolling over St. Caronne in October of 1917 through his final flight over the trenches of Europe in February of 1918."
