Thread: Norwegian Aviation Museum in Bodø

Cool Norwegian Aviation Museum in Bodø

During our holiday in Norway and Stockholm, Sweden, me and my girlfriend visited Norwegian Aviation Museum in Bodø. Bodø is a city above the Arctic Circle and it has a big airport for mixed air traffic (civil and military - we saw five F-16 during their landing [unfortunately, only from afar]). The city is famous as a final location for Garry Powers U-2 unsuccessful flight (you can see the U-2 in my gallery). Please, let us invite you to a virtual tour of this great museum in my gallery. I am uploading some photos here too.

Was up there a few years ago visiting friends but didn't get the chance to go into the Museum: really regretting that now having seen your photos!

    Thumbs up

What great photos Dan-Sam! I would love to see that Museum but I don't think I will ever have a chance.
Still hoping to make it over to Omaka in NZ for one of their Easter Shows.

    Great pictures, Dan-Sam!

    Gloster Gladiator, Spitfire, Beaufigther...

Is this wrecked bomber a Junkers 88?

Yes, I think it is Ju 88 - it was really cool to see diorama like this one.
But I think you are wrong with Beaufighter. It is the Wooden Wonder - de Havilland Mosquito. I love their striped propeller tips (is propeller tip corrected or is there any other words for this parts ofplanes?).
We visited famous Narvik too, but we wanted to see the city and did not visit Museum of Narvik Battle.
Thank you for your reactions - I really enjoyed the museum (and surprisingly my girlfriend too!) and I am glad I can show you my photos

    Beaufighter...

I wanted to write Mosquito but have to think always on the Ares Games Beaufighter.

    Thanks for the photographs Daniel.
It is always interesting to get a glimpse into these Museums. You never know when you may get a chance to pop in if you know that they are there.
    Rob.

Gee, those elk sure do a lot of damage to parked aircraft!

David, it is Focke Wulf 190 A-3/U3 from 1942. They are restoring Bf 109 G-2 too

I have very often problems with recognizig these two animals, but I think there is a reindeer on the photo. May be that is the point - they have more pointed antlers

Thank you Daniel. I hope one day Sue and I will visit family in Norway. This museum would make for an excellent addition to the trip.

    Beautiful pics.

DS, I think your recognition skills for venison 'on the hoof' are better than mine! Thanks again for the photos.

I believe "spinner" is the term you're looking for.

Karl, if you will ever get into Europe, plan a trip to Prague - we can show the best places (Czech Air Force museum included ).

Boy, between my want-to-sees, and my wife's, we'd need to plan about 3 months!
If we get there, we'll definitely plan on Prague.
