Thread: A question.

  1. #1

    Default A question.

Is there a reason why the thread title says "the great War" or is it just a typo?

I'm guessing the good Col did a cut and paste job when he created the Dawn of War forums and missed editing the sub heading.

Good catch guys. The software allows me to copy one forum and use it as the bases to create a new one... and I did in fact miss editing the sub heading.

I have also heard WW1 described as "the war to end all wars"; and WW2 as "the continuation of the war to end all wars..."

D****d if I can remember Rich. A lot of ale has gone down the hatch since then, and the Col has rectified the mistake that his adjutant made in the the forum title anyway. Best if we not mention any prangs like that again. One never knows when it may happen to one of us.

    Default Hello from OZ

The Great War was called that for the plain fact there was no number two until Herr Hilter had a Nazi Party and invited everybody to come.

    It wasn't that great either.

Yeah, the First World War was known as the Great War until World War Two, although the title is still in use here in the UK (check out the 1960's BBC series by the same name). In the same way the Second World War is known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia.

    Hi Guys,
There never was any question of not understanding what the Great War was. I posed the Question retoricaly, because of an error in the title. Little did I realise what a monster I was raising. Let us please put this thread to bed now. Thanking you in anticipation of a good result.
