Default MvR Tribute Contest: Ernst Udet's Fokker Eindecker

Here was my entry for the Manfred Von Richthofen tribute contest:

It probably received about 5 to 7 votes more than it deserved, considering the repaint is pretty much 2 stripes and 1 decal. But I have to say, I'm fairly pleased with how those stripes turned out...

I believe the historical reference is mostly from these pics:

The first pic is Udet in a plane that looks suspiciously like, but is not actually the plane in the second picture (or even an EIII, apparently), the pilot of which may, or may not, have also been Udet.. So, the repaint is really a conflation of the two planes. Early documentation of the plane guessed at red for the forward stripe, which I don't buy given the hue in the picture. Some references mention that the decorations of these planes were all black stripes, but that also looks unlikely to me given the drastic tonal variance. So, without convincing evidence in any other directions, I followed the lead of the late Dan-San Abbott, who posited the stripe was likely to be Bavarian Blue.

Nice job. I don't want to start a great debate but Windsock Datafile no15 says front stripe is red . I suppose no one will know for sure . So your blue is good for you , I like the red.

No need to get into it here, but since you bring it up, I'll just link this thread, which goes into more detailed discussion of the topic than I ever could.
