Default Official Fiat Cr.32 Painting Thread

    All,

I have started this thread to show a few of my Fiat CR.32's from the Spanish Civil War, but am also completing some for the Chinese during the Sino-Japanese War and Early WWII, to include actions in Ethiopia. Thanks for looking. More Soon!

Here is a Fiat Cr.32 "Chirri" serving in China from 1938-40...This was one of 16 Fiats bought in 1933 and delivered by 1936. They were very close to the Cr.32 prototypes, and were armed with 2 Vickers .303 MG's. Oh, and I took these pics before I had a chance to Dull-coat this model by Kampfflieger my favorite Shapeways Designer...Enjoy!

These are my Fiat CR.32 for the Spanish Civil War.
    They're from Shapeways.
I had no time to make the cards for them and I didn't take them to Prague.
Andrea wanted to fly one in my scenario. Next year maybe.

Having just painted two of these tiny biplanes (at 1/200 scale) I can appreciate the work you have put in on these Joaquim, well done.

I have tried decal fix, matt varnish but still cannot get rid of the shiny surround on the wing decals. Any pointers you experts?

I usually try Microsol and then a flat clear spray.

Paint it with Klear, apply decal (use decalfix) , Klear over to seal it, then Matt varnish. You could probably achieve the same with gloss varnishes, it is the smooth flat base coat that's the key so the decal can adhere to it without getting air under it, sealing it helps that too, Matt varnish just to take the gloss off.

Apparently 163-13 is the only documented case of an italian airplane with a shark's mouth painted on the nose. Not really an eye catcher in this size :-)

Good these interwar biplanes are still on a table. I would like to play mote missions with them, but it looks this line is over.

Without a good top-down image, this is my best guess for 163-13:

    WOW, excellent, Mike

Some notes about the armament, as unofficial stats just say A/A.

    - CR32 initial version: 2x12,7 Breda or 2x7,7 Vickers (Chinese had Vickers)
    - CR32bis: 2x12,7 + 2x7,7 in the wings. These were typically removed in the field (Spain) due to degraded maneuvrability. Could be represented by making some maneuver cards critical?
    - CR32ter: 2x12,7
    - CR32quater: 2x12,7
