    Default Aerial Footage: 1919

Couldn't find this link through searching, but that means little as my search-fu may have deserted me. Regardless, cool BBC video claiming airship footage of France in 1919.

If you've not seen it, check it out:

Edit: here's a longer clip (the complete documentary) of the same stuff... very cool.

A great BBC video. The scene where the daughter of the airship pilot sees her father in the film actually brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for sharing this.

One of those wow photos - the village of Passchendale in an aerial shot taken after the 1917 battle compared with one taken before.

Just shows how the landscape was totally obliterated on the front lines. No wonder the natural drainage was ruined.

Thanks for sharing Christopher. Incredible views. When you think about what we're seeing, incredible stories behind those views.

When I see things like this, it reminds me that though we're playing games, there always should be some degree of respect for those who lived through the events we're re-enacting. To them, this wasn't a game. I think this could truly be one of the benefits from historical wargaming - never forgetting the human experience.
