This is a two volume set, originally published in 1971, of the history of the airwar of World War II. Starting with a background of Germany's interwar focus on aerial type clubs as the nexus (no pun intended) of their luftwaffe. Mr. Jablosnski points out a bit of irony, that in the pre-dawn light on September 1, 1939 the airwar opened with 3 Ju-87 Stukas bombing the Dirchau bridge in Poland and World War II ended with 3 B-29 bombers over Nagasaki.
This book covers both Europe and the Pacific, every major air campaign, e.g., Battle of Britain, Russia, North Africa/Italian front, Pearl Harbor, AVG, Midway, solomons, Bismark Sea, Great Marianas Turkey Shoot, Strategic bombing campaigns, et al. All in all, a very good read of just the airwar.
