Thread: Injection-moulded kits options

  1. #1

    Default Injection-moulded kits options

1/144 Scale WW2 Aircraft Injection-moulded Plastic Construction Kits
    - Where there are multiple releases of the same kit by the same company with only decal changes, only a single entry is made.
    - There are potentially a lot of ‘duplicate’ kits here, where the moulds have been sold (or copied) from one manufacturer to another over the years.
    - ‘Collector’s’ kits (like the eye-wateringly expensive Fox One) have been omitted.
    - Please post with additions/corrections which I’ll add to the master list.
    - New kits will only be added as they are released for sale ('cos we all know what happens with manufacturer's 'announcements').

This list looks pretty comprehensive to me. I'll keep my eyes open for any additions.

Well I have 6 of the Minicraft kits but have only built the Betty. Pretty easy stright forward kit. Just have to pout the decals on to finish it.

Wow! What a list! Great job, & I think you've pretty much nailed down the fort with it too!

Uh, Balders, the proper designation of the militarized Boeing 314 is C-98 in Army service, the Navy just let Pan Am keep 'em under contract and called 'em "B-314".

Uh yeah, thanks for that, but I think you'll find the Airfix kit is marketed as a Boeing 314 Clipper, so listing it as a C-98 would mean you'd never find it if searching through 1/144 injection kit lists, which is what this thread is about.

    Right, just saying this:
    Boeing 314/C-143 Clipper
    should be corrected to
    Boeing 314 Clipper
MAYBE with a paranthetical note after about "(USAAF C-98/USN B-314)"--ain't never heard of no C-143, I think that topped out at XC-142 before they rebooted the numbering system.

I don't claim to be an SME on US flying boats; just listing what's out there. 'That first Presidential flight on January 11, 1943, FDR’s 61st birthday, was aboard the “Dixie Clipper,” a commercial Boeing B-314 flying boat transferred to the U.S. Navy and designated C-143.' http://modelingmadness.com/review/civil/kauck314.htm

Well, hopefully not for too much longer: they were announced as 2013 releases early last year, and nothing's been seen or heard of them since. At least they now appear in the Zvezda 2014 catalogue.

    Hey all,

I live in Japan and if there is one thing Japanese model makers love, it's WWII Aircraft - there are literally THOUSANDS to choose from, not only that but there are additional accessories packs to really add detail to the models such as laser cut engine parts etc.

Just for an example here is a search on Yahoo auctions Japan for 1/144 scale aircraft - some even have spinning props!

    http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/s...ab_ex=commerce

If anyone is interested I maybe able to source these for you.

BTW the A&W models probably carry everything you could possibly want for WWII Japanese aircraft, including prototypes!

Thank you. Right now i need to build what i have. I saw the Tachikawa Ki-70 and had to look that one up. The IPMS nationals will be in Hampton Virginia in August, i will get to see kits from around the world there! I have seen the kit in the link and have always wondered what it was. I have also seen it listed with a P-38 kit in a set. All the listings have been in Japanese and wondered what it was supposed to be. Has Fujimi ever released that P-38 kit by itself?

The Nakajima was a concept that never became, due to the tide of the war turning against the Japanese the plane never reached prototype stage.

I thought A&W produced resin rather than I-M plastic kits?

F-Toys series 7 has the P-39 and when you talk about A&W I think of root beer.
