Thread: New 1/144 place

    Default New 1/144 place

I found a new place to order F-Toys and just ordered 2 sets. Twin engine #3 and Seaplanes. I will let you all know how this place is if you want to place an order. I guess I am the first to try this site so hold on all.

Just checked and $15.00. Shipped from CA to MD. Not sure if would be less for you. When I get the package I will let you know what I get form each set. I am sure the seaplanes will have a few doubles. I hope to get a few Ju88's but will let you know.

Not bad that beats the price and shipping from China!

Bob, if you ordered a complete box of each, then you should theoretically get one of each plane that was released, plus one "special", unless the retailer has played with the mix (they frequently remove the special to sell separately). Good luck with them.

Yes, difficult to tell from the product description. For example, '71120 F-TOYS WING KIT Japanese Zero Vol.5-10 No.71120 F-TOYS WING KIT Vol.5. Japanese World War 2 airplanes. Net $5, $50 a case of 10 in blind boxes, 6 assorted painted models' actually has either 3 assorted painted model types (Ki27, Ki51 and Ki84) or 9 assorted painted models (3 different of each type), while the 10th should be a random 'special' of one of the three types, with a further different colour scheme. So, the shipper should, depending on your definition, contain either 3, 9 or 10 different models, but not 6.

Interested to see what the result is!

Baldrick is correct. I was at the IPMS nationals here several years ago. Hobby Link Japan had a booth and opened one of the boxes. All marked the same. I randomly picked out three. Upon opening them i was happy at my choices. Later that day i went to the same booth and they had opened the other 9 boxes. I missed the ones i really wanted. In the box set were 11 planes as featured on the cover and a surprise item. Only two individual boxes were the same item. That so 11 different planes plus the surprise.

And this is why I order mine by the big box -- it usually has one example of each of the models, including the specials. (Big Bird does, anyway; not sure about F-Toys.)

OK guys got home today and the wife put the package on the floor by the computer. So here are the results:

    Vol 3 Twin Engine Bombers:
    SALLY x3 2 & 1
    Francis 2 1 of each
    Ju88 3 2 & 1
    B-25 x2 one of each

I thought I ordered the Seaplanes but didn't. Ordered Set 9 the newest.

    Claude x4 2/1/1
    Brewster x3 1/1/1
    Hurricane x3 1/1/1

Not a bad haul in my opinion, For those looking for F-Toys i recomend this site,

Given the rest of the contents of your first box, I think your 'SALLYs' are actually Ki-49-II HELENs.

Looked on the net but I think you are correct. I thought it was a SALLY. Have to build them and see what they are.

Did a double check in a few books and you are correct, The other plane is a Ki 49 HELEN. Putting it together made a big difference to ID it. There is also a different color paint scheme on one of them. The box shows one camo/one green but there is a silver one also.

The bare metal HELEN with the 'palm tree' camo is one of the 'specials' which are produced for each series to make them more collectable. I believe it's from the 7th Sentai.

Thats the one. Have been thinking about another order for the bombers and one of #8 Type 52/P-51/FW190.

Just checked the other set and there is a different paint scheme on a Claude so that must be the special one in that case.

Well ordered another two cases from these people on Sunday and they are on the way. Another case of bombers and a case of set #8 (P-51/Fw190/Type 52). Have to see what I get this time. I hope to see set #10 on their site soon.

Well went to Cold Wars, a Con by HMGS, and when I came home there was my F-Toy order. Had to open the fighters first.
    P-51-- 3--1 of each
Fw 190--4-- 1 of each and a special.
    Type 52--3-1 of each.
    Good haul

    Then opened the bombers-second box
    Helen 4-- 1 Special/2 camo/1 green total 2 special/3 camo/3 green
Francis 2-- 1 of each total 6 3 of each
    B-25 2--1 of eachtal 2 of each
    Ju88 2-- 1 of each total 3 camo/2 brown

Again I feel not a bad haul.

Picked up 2 SBD's and a special Corsair at the con.

Found a new site for 1/144 models. AikensAirplanes. Came across it in a strange way. I get email weather reports and there was snow here today in MD. When I opend the page to see the weather there was this link so I checked it out. They have some very nice models but they are expensive. They do have dual packs such as Me262/Spitfire that are about $20.00 each. The bombers are almost $30.00 each.

    Bob,

If you ever end up ordering the Seaplanes Vol.2 set, I'd be very interested in trading (for a PBY perhaps?) or buying the early war (striped tail) OS2U Kingfisher.
