We started to meet (semi)regularly in a friendly local gaming shop that sells board games, including WOW/WOG. The shop recently moved to much better premises and the gaming room's capacity increased.
Yesterday we had a great gaming session with Dan-Sam, Kubajs, Lino22, Kancelot and me. We played WWI mostly and an extremely short WWII dogfight.
The first mission we played was a slightly modified mission from the Over the Trenches campaign.
We sent two Gotha G.V's against 2 Sopwith Camels and 2 S.E.5a's, with 2 Fokker Dr.I's arriving later. Bishop and Elwood were flown by me, Dallas and Olieslagers by Dan-Sam, Kubajs took care of the autopiloted Gotha's gunners and Lino22 and Kancelot piloted the two Fokker Dr.I's.
We managed to disable both gunners on the dark blue Gotha and there was a lot of flame and smoke damage. Note Kubajs's custom-made flame and smoke markers made of pipe-cleaning brushes. We managed to shoot down both Gotha's, losing my S.E.5a to fire damage and Red Baron's deadly shooting with Aiming bonus.
Another mission was a reconnnaissance sortie. A Breguet 14, escorted by a Sopwith Camel against A Fokker Dr.I, an Aviatik Berg D.I and Pfalz D.III. Let me tell you that the A/A Breguet is pure evil.
The photos show the hillarious end of the mission. Three airplanes, including the Breguet, had their rudders jammed, and, naturally, at the worst possible moment, exactly for the side we all needed, causing the Breguet to turn away from its target and my Aviatik with engine damage to almost leave the battlefield. Nevertheless, the Entente won decisively, having cleared the skies of all Central Powers airplanes.
We then had a quick game of WWII, two Zeros against three Wildcats, starting around a circle two rulers wide. 4 manoeuvres later there were no Zeros anymore.
Next time, I hope to see Kubajs's awesome tanks in action too.
And at last but not least, then we had our usual couple of beers in a nice pub nearby with two charming waitresses, to discuss the possibility of starting a campaign.
