Here's a few more P38s. All are Minicraft 1/144. The two green dragon planes were actually the first 1/144 kits I built, this about 5 years ago. Better late than never getting them photoed. First the is mount of Capt. Walter Duke 459th FS/80th FG, 10 kills and the top US ace in the CBI theater.
Next is a fictional Lightning of the same squadron.
Here's a quartet of killers from the 475th FG. Over 100 confirmed kills from this bunch.
Hot Box Annie from the 431st FS
The CO of the 475th FG was Col. Charles MacDonald and this is his Putt Putt Maru. He finished the war with 27 kills.
Maj. Tom McGuire CO 431st FS flew a series of Pudgy named Lightnings. He was 2nd leading US ace with 38 kills
America's Ace of Aces, Maj. Richard Bong scored 40 kills. This is one of his Marge aircraft.

So it had to happen, I bought a few Furuta Choco Egg 1/200 P-38's . . .
They make nice models! Now to the 5 metal New Ray P-38s in the box!
2 from AIM, 1 from Air200 (possibly the best model they make)

Given the low price of the AIM figures - why not both?
BTW...
By my measurements: Furuta aircraft
P-38 = 1/172 (much too large compared with others)
J1N1 = 1/207 (a little too small, but barely acceptable)
Ki-26 = 1/189 (too large, difference is obvious)

Hmmm...
I could. If I had an idea what that was. I was copying "size" from a Max Headroom card (rough dimensions - ratio of width to height).
If there are standard dimensions to different aircraft sizes, I'd be happy to accommodate.
Actually, the above cards are a bit messed up for resolution (pixel rate is too low for my liking), and I'd like a reason to do them over. And I have no idea if the stats are right, either.

I'm under the impression, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the me-110 base will be the medium base for every two-engine fighters and fighter bombers.
Since the p-38 has a similar size I thought that it will have the same base.
The latest stats I have are these:
Lockheed P-38E Lightning - Deck: H - Guns: B-B-C / B - A Damage: 21(?)
Lockheed P-38L Lightning - Deck: P - Guns: B-B-C / B - A Damage: 22(?)

Could you give me the millimeter measurements for the different sizes of cards? That way, I can try to put cards in the files section that will print to the right size. I can try, anyway.
I may bump up the resolution for different sizes, too, as the above cards are pretty low.

It started off as a New Ray P-38 I found at a local shop . . . the lady thought I was crazy to buy all the same plane : )
The big problem with the stats for the P-38 is the difference (compared with "conventional" fighters) between it's max speed and it's roll rate and turn radius.
I don't think we have a consensus yet.

Now I have some questions:
What's P38E maximum altitude and climb rate?
Where I could find H maneuver cards?
What is the meaning of * near H?

This is Thomas McGuire's kite. Since the P-38's dimensions are very similar to the Beaufighter ones, I thought that the base of the British twin seater was better than the one of a single seater.

Two Air200 models and one from Armaments in Miniature. All are 1/200 scale. US insignia are decals from I-94 Enterprises. All other decals are ones I made.
Air200 Lt Col James Herren, CO 434th FS
Air200 Lt Lawrence Liebers, 429th FS
AIM Lt Jack Lenox, Jr, 49th FS
Here are a couple of AIM P-38 D/Es Vallejo Brown Violet. One I dry brushed some lighter green weathering.(#30)
This pair is 49th Fighter Group, 8th Fighter Squadron.

Pacific. 8th Fighter Group? I can't remember if these are 35th or 36th squadron. I'll have that info edited in tomorrow.

Tony those Futuro Egg 1/200 ones are absolutely stunning! I hope those pics get passed onto Ares for their upcoming release and they realise how much of a difference it is not to have those hideous unfinished edges. GO BACK TO PAINT ARES!

Ok, my 1st choice was to do 8th FG but ended up painting 49th FG, 8th FS. 8th FG has a nice progression of P-39/P-400, P-40, P-47 and P-38s. 49th FG doesn't have the P-39/P-400s with only a short time with P-47s. When I get to painting my P-39s I'll get into the 8th FG.
Another pair of AIM Lightnings, P-38J. 49th FG, 9th FS.

The planes are really gorgeous
One thing: in my opinion, the P-38 wingspan was more similar to the Beaufighter, so I would have used a Beaufighter base instead of a single seater one.

The Unofficial WGS airplane list has it with a regular fighter base so that is what I went with.
