No sooner said than I get another scenario to view.
We ran one like this in both the "Over the trenches" campaign and our KoTA games. You did exceptionally well to down the attackers. In both of my games, the aircraft taking off seemed to spend all the game clawing for height whilst taking a bashing from the attackers, who could always climb as fast as the planes below them to get out of range.

The AA guns gave out a bit of damage to Tom and Paul. They then climbed which stopped the attacks on the grounded aircraft. This gave George and I time to get airborne and engage them. If they had hit the mg's with 1 or 2 planes whilst the 3rd concentrated on the planes on the ground they might have faired better. But they left George and I alone whilst we took off.
