Fuselage repaint of the Ares Albatross C.III (WGF210B Meinecke) based on a drawing of a Turkish Albatross with the fuselage in light blue with darker blue middle band and rear band. The remainder of the aircraft appears to follow the Ares Meinecke paint scheme. The drawing is located on the Wings Palette website (wp.scn.ru), under WW1/Other/Albatross C.1/Turkey (Ottoman Empire)

Neat looking Turkish scheme. Well done. Thanks for pointing out the Wings Pallette profile. I'll wager there will be a few more of these being painted.

I think that band is supposed to be a shadow caused by the upper wing.
So how many books are in your personal library?

Robert, I not sure. There are two similar drawings on the same site for the Rumpler C.I, one with Turkish insignia and the second with German insignia for the Fleigerabteilung (FA) 300 squadron. The Turkish plane has a totally light gray fuselage while the FA-300 Rumpler has the same "banded" scheme (darker grey) against a lighter body on the fuselage, like the Turkish Albatross C.III. I would think if it were a shadow effect all planes would have the band appearing in the drawings.

I agree - you can see it across the national marking and under the elevator too.

Could depend if the same artist did all the artwork in the same way, in the same period & the source image it's taken from. His C.I image on the same page also has shadows. Glancing at other C.III's it looks like multiple artists some with, some without shadows.

Dave, Robert, I'm convinced about the shadow effects. Dave's observation about the national marking definitely shows a darker white edge on the left (shadow) side. I do see that the top of the fuselage is a slightly darker blue than the fuselage sides as well as the section under the elevators just to the right of the tail skid. I will do a repaint of my repaint! Thank you both for your corrections.

The repaint of my repaint of the Turkish Albatross C.III is below. I wanted to be accurate and in this case the repaint was even easier than the first repaint, which isn't saying much.

Thank you Robert & Dave for your keen eyesight.

I quite liked the old one, even if it was just a shadow.

    Like the new version, too!
