That mauve and green is a pretty classy scheme and looks great on both of these planes.

Nice job gents...they look like a few of the ones I took down with my new Sopwith pup in Rise of Flight last evening. The mauve camo is the default skin.

I like those aircraft, both are very nice.
Chris, what about pilot, he dropped from a plane somewhere?!

Both DFWs are very good chaps. Methinks I could do with some of those to use as more gun fodder.

I know I have seen some of these aircraft presented by other members, but for the life of me I cannot remember where and I cannot find a thread for them. These three were painted recently for one of the OTT CYM missions. They are from Shapeways and the designer was Drome member,Daryl, otherwise known as "Reduced Aircraft Factory". They do not represent any "particular" aircraft and the colour schemes are either based, roughly, on images from a windsock file or they are imaginary. Paints are from Misterkit and decals from Keith Upton, here on the drome. I assume therefore, rightly or wrongly, that they are by Miscmini. Apologies if that is incorrect.

Dang! Has everyone turned into a professional photographer this week? I mean, some of the pics in the Drome this week are............unreal! Nice work Mike, both aircraft and pics..........

Many thanks all - yes I agree. I'm surprised that Ares has never put one out. May have to do with its speed I guess. It is on the slow side and possibly difficult to match with opposition from the game point of view.

Ah yes. Thanks for that heads up Robert. I have a feeling that those pics probably inspired me to buy these in the first place

DFW C.V unknown serial and crew of Flieger Abteilung (A) 199b.
Shapeways Reduced Aircraft Factory later version.
Decals: crosses by Aviation Wing, white stripe by miscmini.
Profile and photos from DFW Aircraft of WWI, Herris, Aeronaut Books, pp 121, 152-53.
This one had the unusual streaked camouflage. "Three colors are brush painted; dark greenish blue, dark violet, and dark Prussian blue. All painted streaks are applied directly to the yellowish canvas. The colors on the wings were painted separately, which made large patches of individual color. However the rudder and elevator look to be painted with mixed colors streaks... The paint was applied much thicker on the fuselage top and sides so the color was more intense. The paint was applied much thinner on the wings giving a streaked appearance without a standard pattern."
