It wos me wot did the emanating Guv. I was getting worried as it was supposed to go in the last issue. Anyways, now downing tools and off to Smiths.
Will be looking for my copy today
No prizes for spotting the mistake though
Latest pictures (with interesting background notes) from Tikkifriend in France are in the Tour Album
Harsh but fair, mon Capitaine
Oh, hardy har har
Well I see the plane is on its way to new places. See how long it takes to get to the US.
Could we put together a miles flown and miles to fly chart?
If you give me the flight plan I could work it out.
Linz
Linz you may have to much time on your hands to do that but sounds like a good project if you can do it.
I had to read the article twice before my nickel dropped...:embarass: ...
But then...
I supose I'll get an early warning when the pinguins are of to my airspace?
Was sitting here trying to work out what "nickel dropped" meant.
It took me a while till the Penny dropped.
Gunners with all the work you do for this site i'm sure you are allowed one slip-up now and then.
Just don't let it happen again or you will be sent out on patrol with out ammo and alone.
Linz
PS away over the weekend so no hurry on route.
If you think in dutch and write in english the translation can get a bit wacky
And you're right...s##t happens but it took a beer to get over it
(I know...any excuse... )
nickel penny bleeping inflation
Right then, As I needed to get the route sorted out so Linz can work his magic, I had to get SWMBO to randomly select the whole of the route in one hit. So, lots of bits of paper drawn from my Buckeye Gamers mug later, this is the order after leaving France:
Sweden - Niclas (Akersberga)
Germany - Marechallannes (Zirndorf)
Belgium - Bluedevil (Zaffelare)
Poland - Nightbomber (Kepa)
Australia
Xen (Victoria)
Pbhawkin (NSW)
Gully-Raker (NSW)
Doug (Queensland)
New Zealand - Linz (Dunedin)
Canada
Canuck (Ontario)
Grumpy Bear (Alberta)
USA - (I tweaked the random draw slightly to group members in the same state)
Kahlerclan (Florida)
Wargamer (Florida)
Lloydthegamer (Oregon)
CSADN (Oregon)
Beer&Pretzels (Illinois)
The Cowman (Ohio)
Clipper 1801 (Arizona)
Pandemonium (NY)
LewdDude (NY)
BobP (Maryland)
BSmith13 (Utah)
Last but not least - Oberst Hajj (Colorado)
Linz - I'll PM you with more exact destinations later
As a ballpark, by the time it got to Tikkifriend in France I reckon it had done just over 1700 miles as the penguin flies
Where in Oregon is Lloyd?
Also: Having to make the "broad reaches" from FL to OR, or OH to AZ, is going to put shipping costs and time up. It would make a bit more sense to shorten up the "flights", for ex. thus:
Beer&Pretzels (Illinois)
The Cowman (Ohio)
Pandemonium (NY)
LewdDude (NY)
BobP (Maryland)
Kahlerclan (Florida)
Wargamer (Florida)
Clipper 1801 (Arizona)
Lloydthegamer (Oregon)
CSADN (Oregon)
BSmith13 (Utah)
and finally to Oberst Hajj (Colorado).
Another possibility, if shipping from anywhere in Canada to anywhere in the US is going to be nightmarish to begin with:
Kahlerclan (Florida)
Wargamer (Florida)
BobP (Maryland)
Pandemonium (NY)
LewdDude (NY)
The Cowman (Ohio)
Beer&Pretzels (Illinois)
Lloydthegamer (Oregon)
CSADN (Oregon)
Clipper 1801 (Arizona)
BSmith13 (Utah)
Oberst Hajj (Colorado).
Just a thought.
Chris, my knowledge of American geography is somewhat lacking so I am happy to be advised on this. Anyone got a problem with list 2 here? If not we will go with this.
The office system is playing silly-buggers again so I can't get to my stored PMs to tell you whereabouts Lloyd is. I'm out tonight so I'll need to check at home tomorrow. (unless Lloyd reads this and responds?)
Astoria if that helps.
Rob.
Wow I am in between NY & Utah or Fla & NY. I have sent a number of things to Obrest Hajj so if you want to make me the last on here in the States I don't mind.
OK, we will go with List 2.
Aloha, technically; but I like beavers, and the Post Orifice doesn't seem to notice the difference. :)
Would it be worthwhile to coordinate plans for where we're going to be photographing the mini? I was planning for the Evergreen A&S Museum -- they don't complain excessively about picture-taking, so I think a pic of it in front of the H-4.... :)
We could certainly do something like that. I am going to take some coastal photos. Unfortunately, only the Tillamook Air Museum is associated with flight. Once I get a few shots out here I could make the trek over mountain to your neck of the woods. We'll have to do some serious planning once the model hits Oregon.
Any way is good for me just have to figure where to take the picture.
I don't know if the bomber will reach his final destination it in time...
Yep, and it's got to go from Europe to Aus, which is going to take some time.
I'm not willing to leave out anyone who wanted to participate. We might look at letting it run it's course, then raffle it after Origins with the proceeds still being used to meet the cost of getting Andrzej over there.
Salute, Steve!
I'm here waiting for the penguins to arrive. As soon as they land in my place, I'll let you know, make some photos and dispatch it to the DownUnders, but of course anyone who want to get it on the way is welcome.
Might want to start the raffling sooner than later, the winner would be the winner when ever the drawing is done, you could be piling up the cash now . . . just thinkin' rare for me . . Clipper
Well that certainly takers the pressure off a bit chaps.
It will be good to look forward to marking its progress rather than worrying if it is up to speed. The recipients will be able to savour the moment that it passes through, rather than having to rush their photographs.
Rob.
Great idea Clipmeister. Got another idea, when the penguins get to you, I'll set up a big meet at our FLGS and invite the Tucson gang and as many of the AZ pilots and get a big squadron photo too!
Sorry chaps, I'm against a premature raffle, the reason being that if the thing goes missing in action en route then we have all the faff of returning all the raffle money.
For example, the thing should have touched down in Sweden around the 11th, but there is no sign of it yet.
Mission control out!
On a slightly different tangent, if it shows up here in the great northwest I will probably take it to the Enfilade convention as a "show stopper". That would be our Memorial Day in May. Maybe I could get it an "honored guest" status. I hope Chris shows up there too, not to mention Tony and the other dromers from the northwest.
