Default Official Nieuport 28 Painting Thread

I recently put up these pix of my Nieuport 28 in the Shapeways Thread (cos the plane is a Shapeways), but I thought that it probably belongs here too, to kick start a painting thread. I copied the paint scheme from a large scale (1/48) model that I found pictures of on the internet.

Good job Nigel! I've been thinking about doing a few of those. You're bigger model is truly inspiring.

I have to say, that's one of the best finished Shapeways I have seen. Great job!

The 1/48 model is not mine, I just "liberated" the images from the internet. The difficulty was getting the same general painting details & effect scaled down to 1/144. It took a while before I was happy with it!

James Meissner's Nieuport 28. Shapeways aircraft.
Did not add any Liberty Loan poster.

Nicely done both; particularly the cowling decoration on Meissner's.

    Yes a great job Jorgen.
That is a super paint scheme on Meissner's Nieuport 28.

Great work on the Nieuport 28s, definitely one candidate for set VIII!

Here is my Nieuport 28, a non-historical fantasy version. The bucking cowboy in yellow circle is 88th Aero Sqn which saw frontline duty but did not fly 28s. I "attribute" this plane on my card to 1st Ltn Fletcher L. McCordic, who was a pilot in the 88th.

This is a Reviresco model; decals are home made.

You are certainly knocking out some very fine aircraft this week Anthony.
I love the chequered effect on the engine cowling.
Having done it myself, I know just how difficult it is to get the decals to conform to the contours of the plane.
    Well done that man.

Love the scheme you've created: the bucking bronco, the tail markings, the checkered nose, all splendid.

Default Encore's repaints Nieuport 28 Quentin Roosevelt 95th Aero Squadron

    Hi all,

As my first foray into uploading repaints, I'm happy to share one that I've looked forward to doing since first hearing his story: Quentin Roosevelt of the 95th Aero Squadron. (I'm new to the upload thing, so I hope the images upload correctly).

I have to show my 94th Squadron Nieuport 28 repaints. Just a paint over and put new numbers on.

    I did the following pilots:
    2 - Major Raoul Lufbery
    10 - Lt. Douglas Campbell
    11 - Lt. Reed M. Chambers
    14 - Lt. Alan F. Winslow

I used Miscmini decals for these.
