The planes themselves look "Fantastic", the pilots were adventurous, brave and some may say a little bit crazy, to get into a contraption only recently invented, made of wood, cloth, wire and affording very little protection. While the men on the ground suffered the depravations of trench warfare, these flyers were high above, somewhat removed from the real war. Fighting was like the duelist or the gunslinger, man vs man.
Maybe that's why I'm heading down the the WWI route.
Not to say that the brave pilots of the second World War were any less brave, noble or crazy, but I think that, maybe, technology took the edge off it.
I may be way off the mark.
Ultimately my point is to ask the question of you all, What system did you choose and why?
