The Daring Rescue or (A piece of cake for supper.)
This mission turned out to be a surgical strike.
For rescue I used my night flying “Biff” backed up by a Snipe.
The forces employed by Stormkahn were two D VIIs.
I attacked with my Snipe to the fore just before dusk to draw off the Fokkers whilst the Bristol landed.
This prevented the Fokkers getting low enough to strafe the Bristol even though they both overflew him.
He picked up his passenger, turned and started to taxi, before taking a hit of any sort.
I continued to harry the Fokkers as the "Biff" made his escape.
As we approached the lines we caught one of the persuing Fokkers in a cross fire between the Biff's rear gunner and the Snipe, killing the pilot and bringing it down.
Negligible damage was sustained by any of the other aircraft on either side.
Rob.
