This is not a total repaint for a WOW Roland C.II but I didn't like the pink paint job so I over-painted the pink with brown around the detail to be kept and I also tidied some other areas of the plane which didn't look very good.

Nice on Don
A decided improvement on the Nexus effort Don.
I don't know what it does to the enemy but it scares me a lot more than the pink one did.(with apologies to the Duke.)
Rob.
Those are exceptionally well painted machines Kev. It is a pity that we are not running a Roland painting comp at the moment. One of those would be a sure fire winner.
Rob.
So I could not find any cool paint jobs I liked, so I offer these "fantasy-but not out of the possibility realm" repaints!
I like the green, looks authentic . . .
But I really like the streaky dark blue . . .
Now my dilemma . . . a few more G & T's and I might just do this . . .
Vote now, vote once, only live people and elves please . . . red line : ) is midnight tonight PST . . .
Green.
Rob.
Like the Red with black and stripey tail, really cool
Hey Peter. Thats. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!
My God! I think thats the best Official Painting Thread ever (Obviously it will not be when we have an Official Beaufighter Painting Thread).
Thanks
Nick
Do you mean like this one Nick?

Awesome paint scheme, Peter!
Did you paint the scorpion by hand?
Lovely paint job Peter, Thought of doing a Dragon decal on the next one ?
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Kudos to your brother Cole! A well made painting! Impressive it could destroy a camel!
Thanks
Nick
Very good painting around those decals Nick. Your bro must have a very steady hand.
I would think twice before attempting that.

A fine job by your brother, Cole!
I recently came across some figures I painted at a similar age, and they were terrible! Your brother has talent!
Nice work by your brother Cole.
I showed Greyson all your kind comments today. He really appreciated them. Thanks guys! You made his day.
I love the planes you've all painted here - and the non-regulation ones are tons of fun!
Here is my addition to the Roland thread - no particular unit (that I'm aware of) is being portrayed...but I liked the shark mouth and eye so I added it and the black and white stripe at the rear of the fuselage. It's the brown and green Wings of Glory Roland repainted - painted in Vallejo acrylics, with the olive being a bit lighter - it matches the colors on my repainted Halberstadt DIII.
I'm looking forward to flying him soon. Thanks for looking!
Always the best,
Matt
Really nice Roland Matt. Love the hungry shark mouth.
I'm really getting to like these purple and green planes Matt.
Rob.

I've always thought the purple and green combination was really an inspired one, Rob. Back in the mid 60s when my dad was building and painting the old Aurora 1/48 scale planes, he did several Albatros models with the green and purple wings - and I've loved the mix ever since. I think it shows up really nicely on these little 1/144 models, and it looks neat on the playing mats - not a bad camouflage, too (not surpisingly)
I'm sure I'll do at least one other Roland and a couple more Halberstadts, ultimately with the intention of flying them together in a game sometime...but I think I may go back on this one and the Halberstadt and apply a wash to pick out some of the details.
All the best,
Matt
Stunning work, Matt! What a crisp paint job!
What Vallejo colors did you use Matt? I want to liven up my Halberstadt that I think is too dark. Your colors must look great on the table!
That's an amazing paint job there Matt, rep points heading your way
Thanks, guys - I'm glad you like the colors!
The green is Vallejo 857 'Golden Olive' and the purple is 811 'Violet Blue' (or sometimes it's labeled 'Blue Violet')...but I really like the way they make the planes 'pop' in this smaller scale. I used these on both the Roland above and the Halberstadt on that thread.
Hope they work out to your satisfaction, Peter
All the best,
Matt

That Roland will really stand out on the table.
Absolute rubbish, not even an Albatros!
Just kidding, lovely paint job as usual

Fantastic job, Tim! Love it!
That sky blue Roland is a beauty Tim
Still cranking out the loveliness at a rate of knots

Great painting on that Roland and especially the shark's mouth. Was that freehand?
Good Lord No!!!!!
The shark mouth is a decal - it's a 1/200 scale Bf110 Eastern Front squadron, decal set by "mehusla 1/144 Direct", sadly no longer trading. Fortunately I managed to snag two truck loads of his decals in his closing down sale on ebay a couple of years ago.
Thanks for assuming that I'm capable of such fine detail!
