A very good new thread starter there Don.
I have to ask if it is a Shapeways, as the finish looks so good.
Rob.
Yes yet another Shapeways plane.
I will add note to the post.
Don
Here is a French Farman 40, Shapeways model. Not sure if the red stripe was a unit or personal color. I rigged this as much as I could. I couldn't do any underside wiring as I wouldn't be able to pick it up!
Sorry but I can't remember what linen paint I used. (I painted the wings a few months ago before the moves) I did wash it with a 6:1 water to Americana Light Cinnamon.

Absolutely magnificent, Peter.
I wouldn't dare tackle rigging like that.
The colours look great as well.
REP inbound.

Mike, I have found this to be unit F44. Pilot Lt Jean Beaud-Villars, Observer Lt Cyrille le Barbu
I also found I have to add a pair of horseshoes on the elevator! I'm working on the decal design right now.

Great work. I have 3 F40's but not up to what you all have done.
Great site Peter. Thanks for posting that.
Peter, Thanks for the link. Thankfully, I can read French somewhat.
The above cards have been updated with the grey fuselage, and I attempted to save them with less compression to hopefully improve details and clarity. Further compression happens to images uploaded to the site, so I may need to do PDFs?

Wonderful job, Peter. Must have taken a great deal of patience and hard work to achieve that. Just have to find a mission for it to fly nowRep inbound
Nice card work too Mike![]()
Thanks Mike.
I finished this one up because I thought I could use it for Mission 2. I only read the beginning and thought, a recon mission, great, finish my F40! Then later when I read the whole mission I see it is flying a scout. DOH! Now to finish the new scouts I had started.
Now that is stunning. Amazing work on the rigging.![]()
That's one amazing site Peter. Thanks for posting the link.If you are ever looking for info on French Escadrille, look HEREI suspect other members are already aware of it, but for me this a first introduction. I don't paint many French aircraft, but having access to this site may kick start me into trying more frequently. Gleaning information about which aircraft were flown by each of the Escadrille is often a bit difficult unless reference to them is made in the pilot biographies. Or am I missing a trick here? Have to confess my French is barely good enough to wade through it all. Other than that a really great site. Thanks again.

Wow Peter, your work is incredible! Really amazing!

Thanks Peter, I missed the boxes. Have to take a much closer look. Be careful with Google translate though, as I'm sure you know. I used it a lot when we had a house in France being done up. The locals rolled around laughing at my effortsEach escadrille does have a box showing which planes were usedI used to sign my emails "Mike" and Google would translate that as "Le Micro"

Stunning plane Peterand another great card Mike
Thanks both.
Thanks also to Le Micro Mike, what a nice image that nickname conjures up.

"Le Micro"
Oh, yes! Gonna get some mileage out of that!
Beautiful job on that Farman, Peter.
I was going to rig mine, when finished, but now I don't think I'll bother![]()

Great work on a frequently overlooked plane. The F.40 (plus minor variants) was probably France's most common two-seater from mid 1916 through autumn 1917.
nice farman pete! with paint skills like that im sure youll go far, man!!!
Ouch!![]()
Another great looking craft, Peter.
The rigging never fails to amaze ...

Beautiful work! What'd you use for rigging on these?
You've set the bar very high for these Farmans, Peter! Well done![]()
Wow. Great work on both the painting and (especially) the rigging.![]()
