    Thanks Peter!

I've tried to model each plane after photographs included in Dr. James Wilberg's excellent book - "Eagle of Trieste, Gottfried von Banfield and the Naval Air War Over the Northern Adriactic in WWI. Volume 2: Adriatic Air War." ISBN 9781935881612, published by Aeronaut Books. In addition to the hull numbers you can identify the variations in markings on the upper and lower wings. It does help to create a set of unique models that while similar are still each unique.

    Best regards,

    Ray

    Nice work Bob!

Do you remember what color you used on the floats?

Wow, Ray & Bob, both sets of planes look sharp! I have always suspected that the fights over the seas deserve a lot more attention, but the navies lacked the front-page allure of the "aces" and didn't get the headlines.

While it does pale in comparison to the scale of the air war on the western front, the naval actions in the North Sea and the Adriatic didn't get a lot of attention. Aeronaut books has some superb books covering aspects of the Adriatic battles both from the Italian - A-H perspective as well as the RNAS/RFC efforts.

I have to credit whoever did the original 'North Sea stew' scenario for Wings of Glory with inspiring me to start buying flying boats and float planes.

BTW - If you are looking for more projects - I found a scenario that requires a US Navy Curtiss R-9 on floats as well as an HS-1L armed with a Davis gun in the nose.

Following up on my W-19 floatplane, I succumbed and bought this W-29 from Reduced Airplane Factory in the white finish to have a good surface for applying the decals. One subtle difference is that I ordered more W-29 decals sets from Reverisco directly for use on this model. I purchased the same decal set for the W-19 earlier but from a hobby site. The W-29 decals are much brighter, probably more recently produced. A pic of both planes is below.
