Peter, beautiful Fee, and a great pose of the two planes.
Peter, beautiful Fee, and a great pose of the two planes.
Probably my last Fee, number four
this one has been around for a while, the PC10 is starting to fade into brownish from greenish
based on a picture showing the early 'goalpost' upper gun mount.
Shapeways, by Colinwe
I've mislaid my mini drill, so no center struts yet, as I drill through the top wing and push them through
Reduced Aircraft Factory crew
front gun mounting post moved to show it was a moveable thing!
Nice one (four) John. This inspires me to hurry up and finish my last two.
It inspires me to start my first!
I need to give up my day job to free up time.
My single Fe is also getting a bit lonely.

Nicely done! Maybe I should make some standing gunners for models like this, rather than cutting them off at the waist?
Hi Daryl,
It depends on the depth of the cockpit in the models you put the crew into, but for Fe2s, a few full size gunners might be nice certainly.
If you feel its worth the effort to make them, I'm sure someone will use them
The gunner in my latest Fe2does not really have legs as such, just some bent wire to lift him enough to show off the gun mounting post.
looks a little odd, but it works if you don't look too closely.
Now a set of these will go nicely with my two Fe and 5 caproni, good call
Nice one Daryl!
Indeed!
Fantastic. Let us know how the test print goes. I want some of these!
They do look rather good,
I may have to buy some more planes to put more standing gunners in
I have somehow missed this thread But these models are just over the top Just so good!!
I must learn to do woodimitation like yours James.
Love the dry ice photos. Wonderful idea.
Beautiful FE2s in this thread. I have four on order from Shapeways and will hopefully have them ready to go by the end of next month to do a Bloody April Centennial game...
Obviously not a popular plane, it's been 18 months since the last one posted, but here are my two Shapeways FE2b's for the OTT campaign, I shall be flying V for Vagabond, hope to survive the first few missions at least. I've just seem John Biggles planes and they are superb, really like the gunners, why didn't I look at the thread first. ;(
More very fine aircraft.
You should be all fit and ready to go now John.

Two more corkers, John!
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
Very nice FE’s inspired me to finish off my two, cheers
Two super Fe's there Vagabond.
Good Luck in the Campaign.
Great looking Fees! Good luck in the coming campaign!
Terrific job on those, John.
They will look great Over the Trenches.
Thanks guys those are very generous comments.
Rob I'll use the cards if I run out of time but I'd quite like to have models on the table if I can make them. The only models I know of is a Stakken made in the States but it's pretty damned expensive to ship it.
You have been a very busy lad John. Beautiful work too - Congratulations. I only wish I could give you more rep than the one for the DH2s.
Hi,
A couple of recent additions, these are big impressive models, Skytrex FE2bs. Have added additional struts to wings for correct number and added rear-facing Lewis gun on telescopic mount to fire at higher altitude EA over the wing by the observer.
I believe form earlier discussions, that the pilot could have used this gun as a secondary forward facing gun, but seems difficult on this model to envisage this.
Later FE2d models have a fixed forward gun for the pilot, I have read.
Nice models! Great job!
Braver man than me Baz, great job. I've only built one Skytrex model, a tripehound; not a happy experience !

Great addition to the hangar, Baz!
Nice models, Baz. Didn't know about Skytrex Miniatures.
Their website says they are "Hiring Now!"
Great addition to your hangar Baz. I look forward to seeing them soon in OTT.
Really good job there, Baz!
Yes, 'Red Eagle' bought out 'Skytrex' a few years ago but still sell their whole range of WGF.

I agree Baz.
A really well produced job. Ithink that particular model gave me more bother than the Staaken builds that I did.

I have said it before and I will say it again:
My favorite plane. Ares should of done this one first.
This plane did it all:
Role Fighter/Reconnaissance, Night Bomber
Manufacturer Royal Aircraft Factory
First flight February 1914
Introduction September 1915
Retired 1918
Status Retired
Primary user Royal Flying Corps
Produced 1914–1918
Number built 1,939
Variants F.E.1, Vickers VIM
Great work gentlemen on the paint jobs!
Lovely work there Baz - agree with Peter, Teaticket, it would be nice to see them in a future OTT scenario
"Baby Mine" #4909 Savage and Robinson, 25 Sqn.
Roundels and blue stripes by miscmini, homemade name and numbers.
Shapeways Reduced Aircraft Factory early war model: I converted the oleo undercarriage to a Trafford-Jones easily by snipping out the front wheel.
AK Interactive PC10 early and Clear Doped Linen, Reaper Heartwood Brown, Vallejo model color flat red, white, medium blue. P3 Galvanized Steel, some others...
I tried to cut and align the lower roundels so the strut bracket thingamajig was in the middle of it but finally gave up. It doesn't bother me.
The pics are super-zoomed so you can see every flaw
Only 3 more for 25 Sqn left to do

Looking good, Chris.
I got some of those standing gunners for my 'Fees' but didn't end up using them - too fiddly for my shaky hands.
This model comes with the gunner already in place, Pete.
Nice FEE Chris. Ah, another plane with 'Baby Mine"! Good thing you made all those decals.
A very good rendition of this iconic aircraft Chris.
Well done.
