Hello, here is my latest three gun creation. I know it was rare, but I like it so much that it was a must for me. Good agains baloons. Shapeways model, while I had to add additional gun. Unfortunately I did not realize that I do not have additional cross decals with white background, so those placed on fuselage are not visible properly. Still lot of lessons for me to learn.

Any AB Fokker E.IV has my blessing.

You guys adding wires to your 1:144 models, though...that should not be legal.

I rigged some of my E.III and even though it looks georgeous it is impractical and fragile. I am in panic everytime I need to moove this planes because I am affraid to brake the rigging

'Valom' plastic kit, with photoetch parts, decked out in 'Reviresco' decal set, with 'Reviresco' pilot.

    Almost all paints by 'Vallejo'...

    "Cold Grey" tyres
"Dark Sea Grey" pylons and struts
    "White" rudder
"Scrofulous Brown" wheels covers and canvas patches
"Yellow Ochre" prop blades, overpainted with "Transparent Natural Wood"
"Oily Steel" engine and machine gun
    "Cavalry Brown" cockpit rim

Pilot - "Flat Earth" flying jacket, "Leather Brown" helmet, "Silver" goggles, "Bronzed Flesh" face

'Misterkit' "French Aluminium" engine cowling and wing roots

That's a lovely plane Tim. Great colouring on the ribs. I'm mega impressed as to how straight the lines are.

    Confession time...........

The yellow wing ribs are printed on the orange/brown "canvas" decal!
That's why the rib lines are so straight.

In my defence, though, the 'Reviresco' decals have a shorter chord than the 'Valom' wing, so there was a 2mm strip of exposed wing behind the rear edge of the decal!
I had to paint this with "Scrofulous Brown", then had to add wing rib extensions with "Flat Yellow" - I think it worked out OK.

Excelent job Tim. I had to look real close to see the shorted decal and your handywork to fix it. Would not have noticed if you didn't mentionit. Well done!

I do not see decals as inferiot to hand paintig. Great job. I did not know thet they used different colour of rib tapes on Fokker E.III. Can you point me to some materials about it?

    No, I can't. I don't believe they ever did.

The "background" canvas colour is also fanciful; Fokker Eindeckers are variously described as "pale cream", "unbleached linen" etc., or sometimes "Fokker Green" or "Fokker Grey".
I have only found evidence for two machines with any kind of painted/printed canvas; one was covered in lozenges (but this was one of the very last examples built, and may have been an experimental test-bed for the material). The other is said to have been a personal scheme for Lt Rauschke (LandFlugzeug 70)' but I have no definitive evidence to back that up.
There are many excellently-painted bright and colourful schemes on this thread, but I'm afraid they are fictitious

The 'Reviresco' decal set is not historically accurate, as far as I can tell (they also do a "Halberstadt D.II" set, with lozenge wings! ), but I had already acquired them, they look great, and they set my model apart from all my other Eindeckers, both Fokker and Pfalz.

Thank you for the info Tim, I did my Fokker E.III in "Fokker Grey" and one "yellow/canvas" (all based on hypothetical real colour profiles) colour to distinguish it from the other. I was very surprised when i learned that "yellow/canvas" is just hypotetical, because from my childhood I saw just iconic yellow Fokker E ewerywhere. I still can not used to my Fokker Grey birds

Still can't decide whether or not to rig it...

To rig, or not to rig, that is the question:

    Rig, with carbon fiber!

Do not rig if you play with heigth rules and manipulate with the pegs often. From my experience you will break it sooner or later. I removed rigging from two of my three planes. The last one will probably follow.

But If you do not manipulate with pegs then rig it. It looks great when rigged with suficiently thin material.

I have here a repainted Ares model.

Vallejo White to paint out the black squares.

Green Stripes and German Crosses are Misc Mini decals.

The stripping was quite the job!
