I just read this story in my local newspaper about local WWII veteran Joe Collector. The Liberty Foundation, which has restored a B-17 to flying condition and provides flights to the public (free ones to WWII vets), is in town this week. Mr. Collector's experiences contains highs, lows, and humor. My favorite quote of his is, "and boy, he chewed me out unmercifully. But I was alive, so I didn't care."

The story also reminds me of the time in 2007 when B-17 flew over my house. Photographs are below (our house was built in 1931, so the pictures works).
