    The Swan/Stalk and number 5 were hand painted, not a gvery good job but passable at a distance. Pilot added from Peter Pig.;

    The Chaputs Ni.11 by Ares with the red painted fuselage.
    Nothing complicated and it looks like one of the Navarres version.

    Serial 3983 (Flight Commander Kenneth Stevens Savory in 'Blue Bird' and Serial 3982 (Flight Sub-Lieutenant William Vazie Simons) of 2 Wing Royal Naval Air Service.

    Despite the French insignia, 'Blue Bird' is British. The roundels on the bottom wing are British.

    Close up and a 'bouncing the Hun' picture.

    Very nice paint job and cool action scene! The Nieuport is one of my favourite WWI planes. I like especially the blue winged one.

    Hi Florian,

    I was just thinking I had seen a post from you in a while.

    I will be flying 'Blue Bird' in the OTT campaign that will start in March. It should be okay for the first few missions but the competition will get tougher as the missions move into August and September 1916.

    1 Wing RNAS - Redford Henry 'Red' Mulock (Serial 3977 - red paint scheme) and Daniel Murray Bayne Galbraith (Serial 3986 - dark blue paint scheme). The serial numbers are for planes these pilots flew but the paint schemes are fictitious. The blue one was inspired by a later one for a RNAS Sopwith Camel (B7190 - WGR Hinchliffe). They will form part of my RNAS scout flight for the upcoming OTT campaign.

    'Fixed' the edging between the CDL and blue on the fuselage and tail plus added a blue outline to the white bars on the wings. Not demarcation lines, although the lines serve that purpose, but tape along the rib that separates the white from the CDL. I had debated whether or not to have a blue edging. The white shows up well enough to the eye but not to the camera and these schemes are meant for the OTT AAR so in went the blue lines.

    Thanks, chaps.

    I’ve planned out the ‘squadron’ for the OTT campaign. Some with historical schemes and some not so much. I’m going with a RNAS unit as the RNAS seems to have been more flexible than the RFC for personalized aircraft. Plus a lot of Canadians / Commonwealth pilots in the RNAS which will figure into my AAR for the OTT campaign. You might not that blue one has Scottish ‘flag’ colours and the red one Canadian ‘flag’. The latter is a bit anachronistic as we didn’t get the maple leaf flag until 50-ish years later but it’s got the real life serial number of a plane flown by Canadian ‘Red’ Mulock - so a red scheme.

    Fantasy paint schemes but the serial numbers are correct. Likely the planes were only CDL. The light blue scheme (3993 - Dallas) was inspired by Sopwith Camel C1555, 'Suds" (Luxmoore or Gamon, 78 Home Defence Sqn). The green/mahogany scheme (3994 - Norton) is probably more typical of Nieuport 16 RFC. I've kept the French markings on the underside of the top wing. These are the last Nieuport 11 I need for the OTT campaign Mission 1.

    Not that the last attempt was extraordinarily successful. We will see how the newly promoted Oblt Fritz Böhning does. He will fly the blue Nieuport and since I have a few blue Nieuports in the RNAS squadron that may help him confuse the SeaDogs.

    There are some lovely paint jobs on this thread, thanks to all for the inspiration. ShadowDragons last 6 are especially nice, very colourful. I had settled on having a go at the Blue Bird scheme but might have to revise that decision having seen the wonderful version here.
    And I'm sorry to report my blasted Rep gun is jammed, not been used for so long, it must be rusty, need to get the lubricating oil out.

    Thanks, John. I was inspired by the efforts of the CYM crew - especially Tikkifriends tricolour paint jobs. I had experimented with Corel Draw before settling on a set for the squadron.
