Nice work James. Always like the personalized planes.

Nice plane. Very distinct. You'll be a prime target for sure!
That's a beauty - I really like it!
Here's my 56 Squadron painted in their Voss dogfight markings. I thought I'd posted these on here a while ago so better late than never.

Very nice Ian.
That also fills in the details on the couple of aircraft for which I did not have the reg No or Letter.
Thanks
Rob.

Super good work Ian...although I doubt if Voss would last very long at least in game terms.
Very nice looking SEs there Ian. Thanks for sharing.
Great looking aircraft there Ian. Love to see how this AAR would come out..hint hint.
See you on the Dark Side......
Next out of the hangar following my recent repainting session are a couple of 60 Squadron RFC SE.5a. When first getting into the game I bought a chap's collection on eBay that included 3 SE5as, one RFC (Bishop) and two USAS (Boudwin), one of the latter having had a slight paint job already to differentiate the two American planes. When I eventually decided that I'd concentrate on Brit planes, the question arose of what to do with the two SE5a in American markings. After quite a lot of searching around I decided that I'd go with 60 Squadron partly as I already have a fair bit on info on the Squadron and partly as they bore the very helpful squadron marking letters on the wings as well as the fuselage which is ideal when gaming.
The decals I used are from Mehusla on eBay; sold as 29 Sqn markings but certainly close enough for my purposes! I've just received four more SE5a planes from Shapeways with the intent, in the fullness of time, of completing the rest of 'A' flight.
With their custom cards.

Crisp looking models! Did you disassemble before repainting?
Very nice work Alex
"He is wise who watches"
Nice ones Alex. Those would be welcome in my hangar any day.
These look great Alex! Nice job. Rep for you.
Yes, you have certainly achieved a success with those repaints too Alex.
Any chance of a view of 60 all flying together?
Rob.

Thank you kindly.
In time, when I've done enough for a squadron flypast, I'll take some more photos! At the moment I've only four from 60 Sqn complete, with two more having just had some basic work done to prep them. After that I've got the Shapeways SE5a and the Valom Nieuports to do. (I didn't know that Valom kits had metal bits in as well! I just thought they were plastic Airfix-style 1/144 kits!)
Nicely done, sir!
I applaud your constructional skills Luká.

Very nicely done. As I understand it, the Valom kits are quite fiddly... and one would never know looking at your finished product.
Now I have 4 SE5's I have lots to pick from for schemes. Cheers chaps.
See you on the Dark Side......
Looks O.K. to me Teach.
They always look a bit grainy when you photograph them close up.
I bet it looks fine at playing length.

Lukáš, Alex and Teach....very nice work mates!
Thanks guys :-)
It was my first Shapeways miniature, so a test bed to see if standard acrylic varnish would seal them.
I found 2 coats of acrylic varnish, over-painted with satin acrylic gives a good finish. I used Humbrol 163 Satin Dark Green as my PC12 equivalent and 71 Satin Oak as my linen (almost the same shade as 103 Matt Cream). Decals are a mix of Dom's Decals and Mehusla Decals. Over coated with acrylic Matt Varnish (Humbrol or GW Purity Seal).
Hope this helps folks with their projects :-)
Looking good Luká. Any plans for adding further aircraft to 85 Sq?
Rob.

Nice work Lukáš.
Found an old thread here on the Aerodrome that might help with your quest. http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...info-on-85-Sqn
With the official stat card already available, there was no excuse not to make a repaint of the SE5a, one of the two operational planes in Polish Air Force in the war against Soviet invasion 1920. The camo is somehow unique and I like it a lot. Nexus designer made just a little mistake with the chequers' outlines, which are easily visible on the photo, taken on July 15th, 1920.

Nice! That's a great looking SE5a, Andy! Very crisp, clean lines (two-tone camo) and the national insignia really "pops."
I look forward to seeing this kite in action at some point in the future.
Thank you Chris.
It seems my airbrush techinques are improving.
Definitely this plane calls for a fast action.

That is a very nice SE5a indeed
All your polish aircrafts makes me want to do a Swedish one.
I wonder if there is any Swedish markings available on the net?
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
There is that Phönix DI. Maybe a repaint when series 9 arrives
Or a fictive Swedish pilot on the westfront
I think I will go on a hunt for some Swedish markings
Very nice job, Andrzej. I will say that while the tail and fuselage markings are definitely border counter-changed, the wing markings look to me like they have white borders.
I'm not sure why those would be different, but that's what my eye sees

I see it now (I saved the photo and expanded it); the red border of the white squares is blending into the color of the wing. Very difficult, but the "stagger" is noticeable.

Very nice work on both those SE's Brian!
Nice job Brian, can't have enough SE's.
Hello,
I was wondering could anyone suggest the best match in the Vallejo paint range for the underside of the wings and fuselage of RFC SE5a's. I've seen 70.887 Brown Violet mentioned for the upper surfaces?
Thanks in advance
Tony.
Nice SE5 Brian or SE5:s
Thanks, guys
Nice pair, Brian
