Does anyone here use a single deck between players rather than splitting the deck as per instructions? I really like the single deck option. It provides a great range of results for each player.
Your thoughts please,
Frank.

Everyone draws from the same deck when we play... unless we are using limited ammo, then everyone picks 8 cards from the master deck and deals them out as damage to people they shoot.
So at the end of 8 cards you're out of ammo?
Yes. When you shoot someone at close range, you give them one of your ammo cards and they draw the 2nd card from the community deck. It sounds like it would not be enough cards to shoot someone down, but it really is. If it is just a one on one game, we bump it up to 10 cards.
Being limited on ammo really changes the way you approach the game.
But keep in mind that the limited amount of ammo is just a house rule. A good house rule but still a house rule.
In our game every player draws from the same deck.
We all draw from the same deck for simplicity. We also use a "House Rule" of limited ammo but we keep up with it on homemade game boards that have bursts/ammo check boxes. I like the way the Colonels group does limited ammo. We may have to give it a try. Your right Colonel, the limited ammo "house rule" changes the way you play. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a dogfight when your ammo runs dry and your wingmen are gone!
We don't use the damage decks. We just make it all up.
Just kidding. Our group tends to have large battles, 5+ planes per side, so we'd run throught the deck 2 to 3 times a game, so we went to a chip/bag system. We have the damage decks on chips in a bag and you draw the appropriate ammount of damage chips, look at them, record the damage, and return them to the bag.
Here's how we do it with the A deck.
2 planes (both A damage) = 1 A damage deck per plane.
4 planes (all A damage) = 1 A damage deck per 2 planes.
It's been a lot of fun...particularly with the 4 planes because after the first 10 or so shots have been taken...you know someone's going down!!!
Yeah beyond that it'd just be 1 common deck per team
Our group adopted the 2 "A" thing deck early. We just shuffle the damage cards from downed planes back into the deck at the end of the game turn they hit the ground. This has worked well for us even though we usually play with 5 to 6 players to a side.

2 or 3 times a game
Your pilots need to go back to target practice!
We have only gone completly through a deck once in the last year, so I guess we are just deadly shots, or unlucky!
I used to have a problem with the card thing, (I really like dice) but the game is so much fun, I have gotten over it. The chits sound like they even out the percentages better (dice gamer thing again)
