Even though that paintjob is a "simple" one, I really love the contrast of red and white with the silver-grey.

    Hope you like it.

    Cheers,

    Eric.

Sweet Jasta 30 Pfalz's. I've been wanting to do some of these for a year after I got the Aeronauts book on the J30. Have to love Marwitz' wine red planes.

    Very nice Pfalz's Darell!

    Are those 'Peter Pig' pilots?
And, if so, how did you get the Nexus plastic "blob" pilot out? I'm having a devil of a job removing one from my Bruno Stachel Pfalz!

Another Von Marwitz, wonderful! I like the Jasta 10 yellow nose too. Ok, have to bump my Pfalz flight up the list.

Tim, I've never even tried to remove the original pilot blobs. I bow to your determination. Are they metal like the fuselage?

If its metal a hand drill will surely make a mess. Do you have access to a drill press? Maybe by securing it on a drill press table it would work? I haven't tried so don't know for sure.

Yes, I have one which takes my Dremel - this is a last resort, though.....................

Default Nexus Pfalz D.III repaint Unknown/fictional pilot

I do not know if this paint scheme is from an actual Pilot or if it was a custom one done for computer game or what. But I found the original image online when I was looking for Pfalz D.III paint themes, and when I saw this one, I instantly fell in love with it and decided to try and reproduce it as best I could.
The Mini is from Nexus/Fantasyflight original WoW, and repainted.
I used decals from Red Eagle for the crosses but hand painted the heart and everything else.

This poor plane has sat on my Workbench for 3 years!
I noticed it in the background on some 'Jasta/Flik' photos I reviewed recently, and decided to bite the bullet and finish it.

    Hope you like it.

Great job! Decals on a flat surface is one thing; making it look good on round surfaces, working around struts, etc.--- that takes an artist.

I cut the heads off with wire cutters, then use a Dremel with a small grinding attachment to take the body down to 2 or 3mm below the cockpit fairing. Then cut a Peter Pig pilot head and shoulders off and glue to the ‘stump’ of the original pilot. It’s a faff but better than leaving the original garden gnome to fly the plane.

I can't find any reference that indicates there ever was a 7 color lozenge pattern, let alone a template.

However, Tim's plane appears to have four, for which I do have a template.

    Hmmm...

Either one is work. Which one?

Glad you chaps like my "Stachel"

Yes, I did remove the top wing (and the undercarriage) to allow easier access for painting and decalling.

I fought shy of getting on with this plane for nearly 3 years, worried that the decalling task would be beyond me.
As it was, it went much more smoothly than I had feared.

Thanks for the kind comments, and for the Rep!

    I used the "freezer-hot water-freezer-hot water" method.

While I was trying to lever the top wing off, the two front undercarriage legs 'popped' out of their location holes! It was just a little more work, with a pair of tweezers, to wiggle the rear legs free.
