Nicely done Gary - another one to watch out for on Wednesday nights !

Nice Albatross Gary
Very nice, Gary
Austrian ace Godwin Brumowski is associated with his red Albatross D.III fighter. But he can also be seen on a couple contemporary photos with a spotted or swirl-type of camouflage.
Doing some internet research, I came across two sites that explored this Brumowski camo look. The first is Russell Smith Studios which indicates that a mustard-colored swirls design may have been used. (https://www.russellsmithart.com/blog...ski-wip-part-3).
The second site by Chris Anderson includes a summary of sources on Brumowskis colors plus a 1/72 model he did with the yellow swirl pattern. http://wwi-cookup.com/albatros/diii_...d_diii_ca.html
I took my Ares Brumowski Albatross and did a partial repaint, keeping the original red fuselage, wings, propeller, nose and decals. Doing swirls on any scale model, at least for me, would be daunting, so I opted for dots. I think the overall effect was reasonable.
Attachment 315304
Struts, landing gear and tail skid are Humbrol Enamel #133 Satin Brown
Engine cowling and top wing radiator are Testers steel and Citadel Leadbelcher.
Rudder is Folk Art matte yellow ochre acrylic
Swirls and wheel covers are DecoArt gloss enamel bright yellow acrylic
Interesting choice. Good job!
That is a noticeable plane on any table! Well done.
Looks great, Craig!
Very colourful and skillfully executed. Hope he has many victories.
It's thought that his red machine should have swirls - it's come up before & there are decals out there apparently .. Calfaber posted these:

Thanks Dave. Awesome look. Didn't realize these were out there. Looks challenging to apply at least for me.
Very ambitious, and well done, Craig!
Spotty-tastic Brumowski!
Rep gun jammed!

Great work Dave, keep it up.

This was a fairly simple paint job, mainly involving touching up the green edges of the wings, tail and rudder, painting out the existing fuselage decals, and adding the correct decals.
Upper Fuselage, upper Wings, Tail and Rudder - Foundry Forest Green 26b.
Lower fuselage - Mix of Foundry Canvas 8b/8c.
Engine and MGs - highlighted with GW Runefang Steel.
Rudder, struts and Undercarriage - Foundry Chestnut 53a.
Decals - MiscMini
This is the third of my Flik 41j aircraft (alongside a touched up Gruber and re-painted Brumowski - see post #399).. I have one more to add but not sure if I will do Linke-Crawford or Brand's machine. The easy one would be L-K since it is the same work as above but I really want to do another colour scheme. Any other suggestions?

Very nice Gary. I lean towards Linke-Crawford since he was Brumowski's wingman.
Very sharp Gary. Planes like this will inspire more Austrians to be painted! (I will for one)
Great addition, Gary!
Another good 'un, Gary!

This is the last of my Flik 41j aircraft. I'll now turn my attention to other types such as the Phonix and Hansa-Brandenburgs.
Well done, Gary! Your assembly line is running full bore
Gary, glad you did the Linke-Crawford
A production rate bordering on Albatrossyness!
Nice work once again.

Very Nice paint job you did there!!!
Here is my completed Jasta 28w (Württemberg). I already presented two of the planes in this thread, but there were decals on the two others missing. So time to make a group shot:
The pilots are:
Black-red plane: Ltn. Karl Emil Schäfer (WoG Albatros D.III repaint).
Green plane: Ernst Hess (WoG Albatros D.III repaint).
Blue plane: unknown pilot (Dekapod(?) Albatros D.III OAW).
Striped plane: Ltn. Karl Bolle (WoG Albatros D.III repaint).

Fantastic workmanship Florian.
Great work Florian. They look superb as a Jasta
Florian, you've done it again! superb!
Now, these are not as nice as some of the posts in this thread. I repainted a couple of Reduced Aircraft Factorys colored prints. It started out with a prop repair on one and turned into a project.
Had to repair the prop on one of the Jasta 2 colored prints. I decided to have some fun and put some Aviation Wings decals on it.
I then had the idea that the Goering would make a good Jasta 2 repaint. Painted out the wing markings and added some Aviation Wings decals.
Lowenhardt became victim of the repaint bug as well. Painted the nose and tail white. Painted the prop a darker shade of brown.
I purchased an additional Goering to make into a Jasta 11. Painted the Nose, wheels, and tail red. New decals on the tail.
My Jasta 2 now has a nice hunting party!
My Red Baron has some buddies as well!
You're on a roll!
Nice Dan, very tasty. Rep deserved Same goes for the beauties produced by Gary and Florian. Nice work guys
Very tidy work by all.
