Albatros D.III (OAW) of Seefrontstaffel Flanders’ founding commander, Ltn.z.S Hans Rolshoven.
Profile = p31 Seefrosta, Aeronaut Books, 2020, Michael Schmeelke.
Shapways Reduced Aircraft Factory model (OAW late version)
I’ve painted this as depicted in the profile but this contradicts the photo description of the plane on p9.

Rolshoven was killed in this plane on 6 May, 1918 (not in a Pfalz as listed in Jasta Pilots). He had flown to Zeebrugge for a meeting of Gruflsee commanders and upon departure crashed from 300 meters. His officers and mechanics rushed to Zeebrugge and investigated the wreckage – wing failure was suspected. The aircraft was used only for travel and should have long since been returned to Aflup IV.

Decals = lozenge camouflage from files, homemade fuselage stripes, crosses by Aviation Wing.
fuselage = Vallejo Pale Sand overpainted with Vallejo Wood. Citadel Flash Gitz Yellow.
struts = Vallejo Dark Sea Gray
tires = AK Interactive 3rd Gen Warm Grey
engine = Vallejo Gunmetal, Secret Weapon Miniatures Dark Iron, Vallejo Xpress Color Copper Brown

This one was a bit of a chore and there are elements that didn't go as planned but overall very happy addition to my Seefrosta

Thanks Dan. All black birds are quite appealing and easy to do. Tutscheck had several. Tim did a Jasta 2 version with a fuselage stripe thats a little different and nice.
