Very nice John. Black planes are always very striking.
Yes great DIIIs
Continuing with the Joachim Lisbon Signature Planes madness, a Albatros D.III from Red Eagle (Skytrex) entered my collection.
The Red Eagle model isn't very accurate, but it has a certain beauty in it.
The early 1917 is secured now.
The decals are really awesome.
And the yellow heart has one more plane.
See you all in the skies!
I certainly look forward to seeing these in the skies over Praag. Quim.

Superb D.III's Alex.
REP!
This is my second Red Eagle Albatros D.III. The Yellow menace!
Like the Punisher-style skull. WH40k?
Just rolled my MvR repaint off the board - rather annoyingly the digital image has shown some silvering of the decal that I will have to attend to but you get the idea. I'm not sure the colours are entirely accurate, depends what sources you look at, but for my needs it's close enough.
Anyway here it is, my attempt at MvR's Albatros D.III 2253/17:
For those interested in such things I used Humbrol enamels this time out - 120 Pale Green, 186 Chestnut & 75 Bronze Green atop the wings, I used a sky blue on the undersides and a very old GW Blood red for the struts, landing gear etc & over the decals - decals by Dom.
A while back I also redid my Fromherz Albatros with a paler blue - can't tell you the colour as it's an unmarked pot I bought at a show 'cos it looked right !

Very nice Ezekiel. Now I wish I had bought more than one DIII Richthofen.
Great job Ezekiel!

The Jasta 11 DIIIs – they didn't all have the same wing pattern camo – some were only two colour. There's a good on-line reference for this with all the most recent info. I'll see if I can find it.
Please do Tim & post it in the Hobby Room. I had my doubts about Allmenröder's, there was a mention of it being green and mauve but I failed to find any definitive reliable source - most mention 'the standard factory finish' of three colours in the few references I could turn up regards these machines and is what is most commonly used so I went with it in the end.

Though it's not exactly what you were looking for, Dan-San Abbott discussed Jasta 11 D.IIIs on the Aerodrome Forum in 2005 (post #6).
http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=23237
Wing camo can be tricky... but I've seen pics of Allmenröder's D.III 629/17 (delivered 21 April 1917) with what appears to be factory-finish (olive green, "pale Brunswick Green and white," and Venetian Red) on the upper surfaces of both wings and tailplane. Also noteworthy are Allmenröder's white markings on nose and elevator. Dr. Bronnenkant's The Blue Max Airmen (Volume 9) contains several photos of this machine, as well as a color plate by Jim Miller that appears to be based -- at least in part -- on Alex Imrie's research.
I'm researching this at the moment, for my own repaints.
It depends upon the factory producing the planes; by the time Idflieg issued instructions to cease using Chestnut Brown (Venetian Red) and switch to two-colour, almost all of the Johannisthal planes had been completed.
Johannisthal switched to the D.V, and production of the D.III was taken up by OAW, who used the two-colour Green/Mauve scheme.
My take on this is that all D.IIIs produced by Johannisthal should have Chestnut Brown/Olive Green/Pale Green, and all OAW should be Green/Mauve (it was probably not as simple as that, but it'll do for a bear-of-very-little-brain like myself!)
Found it! - Idflieg telegram dated 12th April 1917, so for implementation in the 750 series Albatri from May onwards.............
Therefore if your Albatros model is for a date before May 1917 it should have three-colour Chestnut Brown/Olive Green/Pale Green wing camo

Can't argue with any of your conclusions, Tim. The Johannisthal plant finished delivering their run in the Spring of 1917, after the Idflieg directive, and might have carried the two-tone camouflage. Albatros D.III 760/17 and 767/17 both bore the three-colour pattern, whereas D.III 791/17 displays only two...
The challenges of interpreting b/w photos and the spotty photographic record certainly complicates matters!
Huh. Nice work Tim... looks like I posted five minutes before you and then missed your edit!
