Default Ju87 Stuka recovery from the Baltic

Or how the media sources its copy!

Jager's thread with the Fox News story datelined 12 Jun 12 - FoxNews.com’s Giovanna Giampa and The Associated Press contributed to this report
    http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...rplane-salvage

    David Rising's AP story of 11 Jun 12 - http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world...r-1455737.html

I wonder how much Giovanna Giampa actually 'contributed to this report' apart from some web-surfing?

Anyway, great news that another rare aviation relic has been located and will be preserved and displayed for our future viewing pleasure.

From the side bar photographs it looks pretty well wrecked however, "From my perspective there's a lot of damage — it's been under water for 70 years — but our restoration crew says it's in really good condition for being restored," said Bangert, speaking from the deck of the Navy ship being used for the operation. "That's our goal — a complete restoration and not conservation as a wreck."

It's incredible, what the restauration specialist could do with such wrecks.

I read a book about the recovery of a P38 out of Arctic ice. I thought they never could restore a WW II plane in such a condition, but they did.

...and the resuls are always better if you work with original parts, etc, than rebuild the whole plane.
