Goggles off your going down!
Just wondering if anyone else uses any 'Crash' rules for RP games.
We roll a D6 to see what happens wen u get shot down.
5+6 Plane Explodes! (your dead)
3+4 Crash landing (Your character is hospitalized for the next game)
1+2 Rough landing (you live to fight another day)
We have some thing similar in the Knights of the Air campaign... but it's just amount of health lost and no one is ever required to sit out a game.
So you don't have to mess with dice and the probabilities aren't so stiff with a 30% chance of each you could just have the pilot draw from the C Damage Deck.
Regular Damage Card = Live to Fight Again
Explosion = Killed in Action
Special Damage Card = Wounded for the next game
We roll a six sided die. If you roll a 4-6 the pilot/observer survives the crash and can be used again in another game. We also require a second roll with the same result to escape from behind enemy lines and return to your own side. I realize that it is a 50% chance, however our pilots seem to have poor luck. They usually don't make it!
I imagine that's fairly realistic given that a mere 5 victories made you an ace and anything over 15 or so was pretty rare. People clearly did not have great survival rates.

In KotA I use the A damage deck... I do not to use dice for any thing... it' all uses what come in the basic WoW boxes.
Our group uses the C deck, 3 or less = you survive, otherwise it's a funeral. Explosion is a closed casket funeral.
