See you in Praha, chaps!
Nice price, Andrzej!
Have to install a few additional gunpods under my wings.
Nice prize Andrzej.
I went to one of the shops selling WoW/WoG stuff today and the owner said the shop should be open on Sunday 29th July. If you want, we can go there after lunch. He has both WWII starters (WoW and WoG), a wide selection of WWII planes and boosters, he should have Fire From the Sky, he has some WWI stuff too, such as three of each Balloon Busters sets and three Flight of the Giants sets, plus some miniatures, including all three SPAD XIII's from series I.
If there is anything you specifically want, namely from WWII, he can try to order it, but he needs to send the order tommorow, maybe on Monday in the morning as the latest.
Thanks for the info, Jan.
I'm amazed by the shop's offer The truth is I would like to get the yellow balloon set, for my WWI collection is quite complete right now. There is a chance my fellows will buy one of the balloon sets as well (brown or yellow). Could you please check the prices?
This is the shop's website for Wings of War: http://www.svet-deskovych-her.cz/her...r-c-83_52.html
And specifically WWI sets: http://www.svet-deskovych-her.cz/win...-83_52_91.html
Wings of Glory: http://www.svet-deskovych-her.cz/her...-c-83_121.html
The Balloon Busters are 870 CZK per set, that is about 143 PLN or about 35 EUR.
By the way, Andrzej, how is my order of the bombers from the Polish shop proceeding?
I already have it, Jan: Two Buttinis plus 1 von Korff for you - I will bring them to our Con.!
Jan, I have checked the Ladislav's shop offer. Great stuff. Would it be possible for you to buy 1 or 2 balloon sets (I'll precise it tomorrow) and bring them to the club on Saturday? Then we shall settle our expenses.
Ah, then I look forward to owning the French Caproni, the two other bombers are for von.rybnik, not for me.
As for the shop, just tell me what you want and I can call the shop owner and ask him to put the items aside from the shelves so that we can come and buy them on Sunday.
Excellent!
Jan, please book two balloon buster sets for my group. One yellow and one brown, OR two yellows if the brown is not available at the moment.
It's possible that one of my pilots would get a WoG deluxe set (it's not decided yet).
Thanks in advance,
Andrzej.
Alright, I will call the shop owner.
I assume that by WoG Deluxe set you mean the WWII one by Ares?
Uuupps, no Jan. I meant WWI set, but I'm affraid it's not in stock. Ares' new WWII set is easily available here as well.
Nope, Andrzej, the WWI starter is definitely not in stock.
The shop has one WoW WWII starter set and some WoG WWII starter sets.
I should be able to be at CLUB MEPHIT till 13:00 h.
When will you arrive?
For WW I it's your choice - what side to fly for. I'll take what's left over (Entente/Central Powers)
For BoB I would choose the Germans (control of Messerschmitt & Stuka)
For any other WW II scenarios - it's equal for me.
What side and planes do you prefer for WW I and WW II?
My group will be there at 13:00 as well.
My mobile - +48 602382081.
For BoB - I'd prefer to fly the Allies, but will take any invaders, if it's left.
For WWI - no preferences. Any side will be fine.
I think we should write some tournament rules, like I started to do earlier.
Think we stay with the same side for the whole WWI and BoB scenarios, summing points and declaring a winning party in the end and the best scoring pilot in both "wars".
Your opinions?

Shall we try to list the participants?
Polish group:
1. Nightbomber,
2. Sławek,
3. Filip (kid),
4. Andrzej - not confirmed yet,
5. Wiktor (kid) - not confirmed yet.
German representative:
6. Sven
Czech group:
7. Jan,
8. Radek,
I'd be glad if we exchange the mobile numbers:
If you do not want to post them here, let's use PMs.
As for sides, I would prefer Central Powers for WWI and Allies for WWII but I do not mind flying either side. For WWII I would definitely not mind flying for Japan, I like their airplanes.
Just a rough project of Tournament Rules below. I changed my mind as far as exp. is concerned. The one who explodes, goes out of the Club to buy some beers
The rules are to be discussed or/and supplemented.
TOURNAMENT RULES,
PRAGUE 2012
- Winners will be declared in 2 categories:
TEAM (number of V.Points) and INDIVIDUAL (number of kills, points do not matter).- VP are gathered thru:
a) shooting down a plane: 2 VP,
b) chasing off a plane or a plane voluntarily left the battle: 1 VP,
c) being shot down: - 2 VP,
d) mission objectives met: 3 VP,
e) the last shooter scores a kill, no shared kills,
f) official ace skills (cards) gained after every 5 kills,
g) players always return home. No mission skip, but no respawning.- Players enlist to one of the sides for the whole Tournament:
1) Entente/Cent.Powers,
2) Axis/Allies.
- to form as even as possible two groups- Explosion cards/tokens are included.
- The official basic altitude rules are in force.
2.e) might cause disagreements, since shooting happens at the same time. How would you solve a case when two airplanes shoot at the same target at once and it goes down?
As for explosions, if you keep the rule about buying beers, we may end up stone drunk after only a couple of games. I do not think the club staff would want a bunch of drunkards in the club.
Mind that we do not have much time to play if we want to play both wars, especially if you insist on using altitude rules. The games are going to take much longer that way, especially WWII games, since at least I am almost a total newbie to the WWII rules. If any newbie walks in and wants to join us, are we going to refuse, or are we going to spend half of the afternoon explaining all the advanced rules such as altitude?
If we start at like 13.00, we will have about 8-9 hours. That is maybe 8-9 quick games with so many people, even less if we attract any newbies. Also, add some pauses for refreshments and unexpected delays.
Lets not get it too complicated, or we may end up disappointed instead of having fun. Do we really need to compete for some points? My original expectation from the con was simply a couple of fun games with my friends from the Aerodrome.
Good points Jan,
I do not insist on any rules I posted. We may easily scratch them.
I can agree with no-alt rules .
I'll try to write more later...
I'm ok with the rules if someone else do the paper work.
For 2.e) We could use this: The burst of the nearer plane hits first. If it's the first (second, third) burst that shot him down the kill goes to the first (second, third) shooter.
Jan - you've got still one week to get familiar with the altitude rules.
We really need them for WW II games otherwise the Stukas have no chance.
I don't know what WW II games you solved but these games are the faster ones and I promise you, that your opponents won't fly long curves to go for a fight. (Am I right, Andrzej? )
If we limit the altitude from 0 - 4 (1 to 5 pegs) it really shouldn't be a problem. ...and it gives the fast climbing planes like the Dr.I the advantage it needs to mess with with other sturdier planes.
My goal is to have fun with you all. Doesn't matter if we had 6 or 12 games. No one leaves this Club bored - that's a promise!
A beer for an explosion kill? GREAT IDEA!
We could drink the beers after the match...
Full support Sven!
Jan - fun is the goal (beers - easy!)
Sven is right with arguments for (simple) alt rules. Stuka and Dr.I may benefit with them, otherwise they are weaker. I have been training my group in using official simple alt rules [0-3 stages, 1-4 pegs] and they are really easy and fun to play in 3D mode! Even the youngster, Filip 11 years old grabbed them, making S turns, with ease.
Jan - you know how our Dear Sven wants to drive his Stukas on his new mat! I couldn' refuse his request for some bombing
Sven, I can do the whole paper work with points and victories.
From my experience Jan, if I use such a system people get more involved in the course of play and competition. That doesn't spoil a friendly atmosphere.
Let's try the alt rules and start with WWI. I dream of using my personal yellow-blue Dr.I or this one with my name on it:
Then we're gonna turn to WWII. Some of us prefer WWI, some (like Radek, or Sven this time) WWII. And it's OK. I personally would love to play some WWII games against Sven [or with him in the same team]. Having a Real Hun by the table is a rare occasion!
And let's have FUN!
Hi guys i invited some more friends that played WoW with me before so we may have 1 or 2 more pilots.
Excellent, Radek.
What do you think about the Tournament rules I posted before?
Above you will find my mobile number. If you find it useful, you can PM with yours.
yea the rules are fine and my mobile number is +420736236953
Good news, Radek.
Do we have one or two tables, now?
Remember we need place for the cockpits, too.
Another news: My flight will consist of 5 pilots
1. Andrzej, the Nightbomber,
2. Sławek,
3. Filip, Sławek's son
4. Andrzej,
5. Wiktor, Andrzej's son.
Himmel!
So we really need a second table.
...and name badges.
Jan - is it possible to upgrade the reservation?
You read my mind, Sven I have just tought about the badges. Leave it to me
I mean the badges, not the tables!
Last edited by Nightbomber; 07-24-2012 at 12:48.
I will try to negotiate a second table tommorow.
Great, Jan!
I've got a vision at the moment:
See myself in a Messerschmitt 109 heading for the Cliffs of Dover.
My Wingmen: Filip & Wiktor and Radek following with two Ju 87s.
Imagine the radio communication!
Like Poles and Brits during BoB!
There are 2 possibilities: 1) your radio is damaged. 2) we should form flights of people who can communicate with each other
I have a vision: Polish "flight" of 303 squadron is attacking the rest of the participants flying in Bf109s and Stukas Then you and the Czech flyers could have radio!
Chaps, I have updated the rules.
TOURNAMENT RULES v.1.1,
PRAGUE 2012
- Winners will be declared in 2 categories:
TEAM (number of V.Points) and INDIVIDUAL (number of kills, points do not matter).- VP are gathered thru:
a) shooting down a plane: 2 VP,
b) chasing off a plane or a plane voluntarily left the battle: 1 VP,
c) being shot down: - 2 VP,
d) mission objectives met: 3 VP,
e) the last shooter scores a kill, no shared kills. More shooters - the highest damage point done counts. Ties are resolved by drawing an A card. Higher wins.
f) official ace skills (cards) gained after every 5 kills,
g) players always return home. No mission skip.- Players enlist to one of the sides for the whole Tournament:
1) Entente/Cent.Powers,
2) Axis/Allies.
- to form as even as possible two groups- Explosion cards/tokens are included. TO BE DECIDED BY THE GROUP.
- The official basic altitude rules are in force. Alt: 0-3, pegs: 1-4.
- Collision rules:
a) when playing without altitude: only when pegs collide – draw C card/token each, count only points and explosions.
b) when playing with altitude: only when pegs collide and: a) planes are at the same altitude AND b) both have any number of climb counters OR both have none.- Playing Missions:
a) WWI – both teams play the same mission twice, swapping places.
EXAMPLE: A Balloon Hunt mission once played as the attakers, another time as the defenders.
b) WWII (BoB) scenarios – swapping not possible, we run a series of missions.- Aerial victories with a second controlled plane (bomber or transport) count for the team but not for the personal kill score.
- Simple bombing - altitude does not count for released bombs.

If I can ask you Sven - please design some (please simple ones ) BoB missions for the WWII part. I will design some for WWI.
Taking into account the number of Polish participants who may form a 302nd/303rd squadron (any Czech friends may join!) I suggest we can replay a loosely historical campaign entitled: "Clash of the Eagles", featuring fights between Polish and German flights during the BoB. What do you think, chaps?
As to the WWI missions:
As mentioned above, I suggest we form two teams: E/CP and will play a series of some simple missions, swapping sides after each of them.
I think these may be three types (6 all together) - if time allows - we can repeat them. My idea is to have them simple and dynamic with no down time as much as we can avoid it.
Mission types will follow...
WWI MISSIONS:
- FIGHTER PATROL
Two enemy flights start on two different sides of the table and start a head on fight.
Starting altitudes are different: 1 for the left side, 2 for the right side.- OUT OF THE SUN
One flight is surprised by the other bouncing out of the sun.
The bounced start in the middle of the table at altitude 2, the bouncers on their six 1&1/2 ruler away on altitude 3.- BALLOON HUNT (no altitude rules) 3VP to get.
One side attacks an enemy balloon, defended by the other side's flight.
After 12 turns, the Balloon is grounded by its crew.
No incendiary ammo.
The Attackers start 2 rulers away from the balloon, The Defenders one ruler behind it.- DOWN THE BOMBER 3 VP to get.1) The Entente Caproni Bomber (automated flight) must fly accross the table and is defended by one flight. The other side attacks.
2) A captured Caproni Bomber (automated flight) must fly accross the table and is defended by one flight. The other side attacks.

What do you think about historical periods we play? Shall we stick to one or make a progression?
Suggested adversaries:
1917: Nieuports 17 vs. D.III, Camels/SE5a vs. D.III/D.V/Dr.I/Pfalz D.III
1918: Snipes/SE5a/Camels vs. Albatroses D.V/D.VII/Dr.I.
Remember, Andrzej. I have Clipper's Caproni Ca. 4 with me.
For the WW II Campaign, the first idea was the best:
Same tournament rules as for WW I
with following exceptions:
Collision only when Pegs collide at same altitude with climb counters or at same altitude without climb counters. C-damage token.
Aerial victories with a second controlled plane (bomber or transport) count for the team but not for the personal kill score.
Simple bombing - altitude does not count for released bombs.
Just a proposal! I don't know what Shivaja/Radek or other players have in mind.
OK, no problem for me. I will update the rules. Bonus Mission with Caproni will be included (I forgot about the plane )
You don't need to integrate it in your missions for all costs.
But we'll have WW I bombers (Gothas, Capronis Ca.3 & Caproni Ca. 4) there, too.

So I can see we have the missions planned.
