Default My entry for the Nieuport Challenge 2012

    Lt Maurice Boyau, Escadrille N77

Here is some pics of my entry for the challenge Thanks all who voted on me
It´s a Nieuport 17 from Shapeways. I had some difficult time to smooth the surface, the upper wing worked, but I could´nt get the fuselage right in the end. I am now a bit wiser for the next challenge

    Great looking kite there Michael!
Awesome freehand skills on the dragon.

Also like the composition of pics - Primarily the first one.

What technique did you use to smooth the wings? It worked brilliantly.

The hand-painted Wyrm of course is in a class of its own.

Thank you Zoe, glad you liked it

7-8 thin layers of GW´s Chaos black from spray can and then 4 layers of mithril silver hand painted.

For a painting competition you really deserved more, excellent work.

Thats probably one of the best finishes I've seen on a Shapeways model. Great freehand skills too!

The dragon is fantastic. You have great ability to hand paint that! I love your scheme and I was considering doing a N17 with that logo.

Thank you Brian! To be honest I spend more time on the finish than the details. First I tried with aceton, but the plastic was to sturdy and then I tried to apply layer after layer with thin paint. but in the end I couldn´t manage to get the fuselage smooth. Very frustrating, but Iám content in the end. I will take this kite up in the aoir and battle the huns in our KotA campain

10th place are better than the Albatros DIII contest (no votes at all). Iám learning new thing every time so I will try to do better next time. But the competitions is very hard indeed. Very lovley kites in this challenge so Iám quit happy
