Thanks for filling gaps in the showcase and in our knowledge base Kevin !
Yet another work of art.
Well worth rep.
Rob.
B-24 are always nice Kevin! A pleasure to look at it.:):D
Thanks
Nick
Here are a few of my B-24. Not as nice a model as the AIM but it was what I had. I painted 'Moby D ick' from the 90th Bomber Group, 5th Airforce in the Pacific. I haven't made the model yet.

This is really nicely done, Peter! So it is not from AIM? Who makes it?
I look forward to hearing how it 'flies in anger' some day!
All the best,
Matt
It's made by Maisto. I got a bunch for $6-$7 each. They are metal with ugly plastic wheels that have to be cut off. I hope to add the mgs, maybe the next ones that I do.
One of those that got my vote, nice model Peter.
Very nice finish Peter.
Beautiful B-24s, Kevin and Peter!
Good work, Kevin and Peter!
I have mixed feelings on how these turned out. Thought I would share a couple of things I learned. First, was not to use super glue on the clear prop discs :( . I see someone else on the board recently found out too. It's also helpful when mixing paints to obtain a certain color for a project to mix them in a jar for later touch-ups. Speaking of mixing, I used Model Master paints: 10:1 Sand ANA 616 to Skin Tone Warm Tint and a couple drops of thinner. I was very Attachment 195310Attachment 195311Attachment 195312pleased with the resulting color. If you are adding small ID numbers, I would also recommend making your own decals using Word. I did that with "Snow White" on the tail fins and it was much much easier than one digit at a time like I did on "Strawberry."
I love the 'Libbies', I have two in RAAF colours - must get them on the table one of these days - http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...rs-21-Sqn-RAAF

Nice job, those look great.
Some more Maisto B-24s.
1st three (black & yellow checkerboard) are from the 758th BS, 459th BG in Italy
The last 2 go with my 'Moby D i c k' (see above) from the 320th BS, 90th BG in the Pacific.

Beautiful B-24's Peter. Did you free-hand the skull and crossbones?
Those are works of art!
I especially like the first two, with #1 having a slight edge.
awesome
Exquisite Peter.
Rob.
Especially the checkertails of the 459th - simply magical work, Peter!:sAprvd::sAprvd::sAprvd: Your panel line work really sets your planes apart - I love it.
All the best,
Matt
Thanks all.
The checkers you can get decals in different colors from I-94 Enterprises. Unfortunately for me they were not the size I wanted so I ended up making my own checkered decals.
Doing the panel lines is quite time consuming but I think worth it. I like them much better then the shiny clean/new looking planes but I was panel lined out!
Classy Peter - Beautiful work indeed
I'm very impressionated by the modellers and paintors and the quality of their B-24 in this topic. They made great work!
I try a version with my own decals. It was a not so evident job!

That looks very good Cedric.
Great job, Cedric.
High painting skills on your model.
Solid work Cedric, that would look really nice with some spinning props.
Great job Cedric. Let us know how she fares on the table.
Great job!
 Very nice, Cedric!
Sorry lads, I have to chuckle a bit. I've heard the B24 referred to as "the crate the Fortress was shipped in." ;)
But seriously now, no disrespect to the model builders, beautiful models, and much better than anything I could do!
Hi, thanks for your comments.
I've found my notes on this plane. This was the gunner's "ace" Arthurs J Benko one.
B24 The Goon 308 Bombardment Group
Lost 1 Feb 45 mission to bomb/mine the harbor at Hong Kong - MACR 12413. While heading to target, the aircraft developed engine trouble severe enough to force most of the crew to bail out. Three of the crew stayed with the plane and managed to get it to the base at Kweilin, China. Five of the seven who bailed out were returned to duty and two were listed as MIA (later KIA).Capt. Samuel J. Skousen - Pilot (stayed with plane, RTD)1st Lt. Ralph E. Bowers, Jr. - Co-Pilot (bailed out, RTD)1st Lt. Daniel J. Palmer - Navigator (bailed out, RTD)1st Lt. Malcolm S. Sanders - Bombardier (bailed out, KIA)T/Sgt. Archie L. Fleharty - Engineer/Gunner (stayed with plane, RTD)T/Sgt. William J. Novak - Radio Operator (stayed with plane, RTD)T/Sgt. Arthur J. Benko - Top Turret Gunner/Asst. Eng. (bailed out, KIA)S/Sgt. Casper J. Chirieleison - Gunner/Asst. Radio Operator (bailed out, RTD)T/Sgt. Robert M. Kirk - Gunner (bailed out, RTD)Capt. James S. Edney - Observer (bailed out, RTD)
I read somewhere he was a famous turret gunner.
Cédric
Nice paint job. Really nice decal for the nose art, too.
I can't find a version of a B-24D with the ventral ball turret removed. I do have a card template for the B-24D, and I can remove the firing arc for the ventral turret, if that was how the "Goon" was configured?
B24D, 41-24183, "The Goon", 374th Bomb Squadron, 308th Bombardment Group. There may need to be an Ace Skill card for this crewman: Technical Sergeant Arthur Benko, Dorsal Turret Gunner (18 confirmed kills).
Salut Cédric::salute:
Super ton B-24; bien au 1/200e? si oui quelle marque et ou en trouver? (la question a déjà été posée?) J'attends celui de ARES mais quand la sortie?
Super your B-24; well at 1 / 200th? if so which brand and where to find? (the question has already been asked?) I'm waiting for the one from ARES but when will the release be?
Very nicely done, Cedric!
The B-24 ball turret was fully retractable, to allow sufficient ground clearance during take-off & landing.

Perhaps the model is in "tarmac" configuration?
As T/Sgt Benko had over 15 kills, he could have had up to three Ace Skills. Start with this one:

I'm thinking he could have had Perfect Aim, and Sniper, as well.

They certainly make an impressive display Fox.
