Ah ha! WR was for the 354th FS of 355 FG. They did not use the camo pattern on their P-47s like 56FG did. Curious plane.
354th FS of the 355th FG (65th FW) used WR according to my references, although no reference to camouflaged Jugs.
Operation Overloard, AIRFILE (P33)shows a P-47 (bubble top) with camo like that. It was the CO's plane LM-S but didn't have that invasion stripes. There is a color plate of a P-51 (WR-P). I painted a P-47 with that camo but no stripes.
