The actual show is on 16 and 17 Sept. The 15th is if you have a DoD ID, which I do, so I will be there on Friday and hope to get some good pictures.
Well 2 weeks until the show. I will have my camera so hope to get some good photos.
Heading down on Friday. I thought just a static display but see that there will some flying done that day. Thunderbirds flying for over an hour and the WWII planes up also.
Sounds like a great air show Bob, I look forward to seeing you photos.
Holy crud, I missed the original post last month. Last I had heard, Andrews stopped doing any public events, due to security freak-outs.
I guess I'm changing my weekend plans. Thanks for posting, Bob.
Sam I get to go tomorrow because I am retired and can get on base. They updated the events list so looks like it will be good. I was watching the news this morning and they showed AF1 rolling for takeoff. As the camera panned there was DOC (B-29) sitting there so I will get to see it tomorrow.
Yeah, I'm planning on Saturday, only day public transportation can get me back and forth. It will be a long day (3 hours one-way), but I think it will be worth it.
Sam it will be well worth the time. I took over 1,100 pictures. Since this is WWII site I figured I would start with a few of them. Here is the first installment. The one I wanted to see.

I asked if DOC would be with FIFI sometime and the answer was they are working on such a get together. Would love to see that happen.

Here are the TORA TORA TORA planes taxing for takeoff. ZERO"S and KATES. These are the planes that were used in the movie TORA TORA TORA and Pearl Harbor.

P51 and Corsair.
These are just a few of the WWII planes I took photos of. I still have the Thunderbirds and other photos to post.
Great photos Bob, she is an impressive machine. I look forward to more reports from Andrews.

Didn't know about this but here is the MEMPHIS BELLE.

Different generations. A T-50 on the ground and a Zero in the air. The KATE was a mistake but still a good photo.

4 HUEYS. The sound of 4 of them together is something I haven't heard in 45 years but still impressive and a sound you will not forget.

This one is for all the Corsair lovers. It is Korean war vet that has been restored.
Great shots here, Bob! In addition to the classic Huey sound, did you happen to hear any 'Ride of the Valkyries' being played?;)
Great to see Doc in action, too. Keep those pics coming - it will be lovely to see what you choose to share:sAprvd:
All the best,
Matt
No Ride of the Valkyrie's but what would you all want to see next ?

Thunderbirds ?
Matt next weekend is the tank farm I go to. Any requests ?

Here is a Thunderbird shot.
Matt the site said there was going to be a LEFT BANK Huey but I didn't see it. Would loved to see the radios it had on it. Don't think they were R390's unless it was a museum piece.
Thanks for the ride Bob. Some great planes!
Here is something else that was there. Not a plane but something to see.

They said the truck hit 375 MPH.
Whoa.
Yes it was. The sound was something to hear when it fired up.
Bill I am from Jersey but only went back to visit my folks. I bet you have never driven on the DC or Baltimore beltway. Then there is NYC.
Attachment 232638
This is the P-51, QUICK SILVER, that was at the show. I haven't seen this one before but even taking off on the runway at Andrews you can still hear the Merlin engine sound and it is always sweet.
Attachment 232639
Since this B-25, PANCHITO, shows up here is a picture of it.
Attachment 232640
These are 2 F-16's just taking off for a regular flight. Nothing to do with the show.

And here is a B-1 that was right at the gate when you got off the bus.
Hi BobP, I am from Jersey too! Grew up driving in the NYC area (driving in NYC never has bothered me). My oldest daughter teaches in Baltimore and lives in DC -- I am NOT a fan of driving in the area. Of course, then there's Boston driving. When I moved up there I got two tips for driving in Boston: 1) When driving on a one way street bear right for oncoming traffic, and 2) Stop signs and red lights are considered merely suggestions up there...:lol:
Bill I was stationed in Mass for 5 years. I retired from the Army there so I know what you mean about driving there. I thought DC was something until I drove in Boston. that's why I usually took the T into town.
Sam get your pictures posted as I am sure you have some different ones then I took. My back and knees did me in later in the day but I did have a very good nights sleep.
I drove on the other side when stationed on Okinawa. After getting back to the states I had two times I went on the wrong side of the road.
